Chai......i can only imagine the look on Amarabae's face on hearing this news, priceless. NLs auxiliary matron, chairgirl of johesu nairaland chapter. The auxiliary matron who is equal to a doctor minus surgery. She and her cohorts will be crying blood right now, maybe she's even dead from a heart attack or stroke she got upon hearing this news. I feel her pain, her high hopes of becoming a consultant auxiliary nurse where heartlessly dashed, just like that, chai, this is wickedness, WAEC crushed her dreams of study medicine, now NMA/FG have dashed her hopes of been called consultant and earning like doctors.

Amarabae, if u like, shout from now till next 2000 years, doctors will always head you and receive far more than you, it was so before you were born and it will continue to be so. Be expecting a pay rise for doctors soon. If you don't like it, go and buy jamb form and apply for MBBS or better still, you can jump into the lagoon.

I sympathize with you Amarabae, better start preparing to resume work tomorrow and take orders from the doctors, even medical students . Hope the shame won't kill you, just try and bear it. It's a pity.

Once again, my heart felt condolences to Amarabae and her fellow johesu cohorts.

Restroom:
At the end of the day, will the federal government honour any decision mediated by the Industrial Court? This strike, Jones and NMA is all about money money politics!

Johesu don't know how to lobby! They are fighting the minister to increase their pay, but have not shown to the minister what he will get in return for jacking up their pay.In Nigeria nothing goes for nothing!

NMA know how to lobby their way! They tax themselves, by deducting raw cash from doctors salaries, contribute it to one pool and splash the dough on the minister of health and everyone else concerned.

They don't mind collecting 50k from each doctor in federal Government payroll in Nigeria and then splash the minister of health with say 20million or 22million naira, to increase their pay! After collecting 22million from NMA or thereabout, he sign whatever pay increase NMA and ARD demands for!

So what this strike has shown is that, JOHESU does not want to splash money on the minister, to make their own money!

If Johesu leaders give the minister of health say 10million for example has gift, o boy, Adewole will sign that paper sharply and order ministry of health, budget and what have you to increase Johesu pay!

Johesu leaders have not understood this simple effective cunning man die, cunning man bury am logic of Nigerian politicians.

JOHESU Member!
Stop telling lies and spreading false propanganda to blackmail Doctors.
Doctors dont bribe anybody, this is a figment of your own warped imagination founded on lies and blackmail.
Go and face your woe and leave doctors alone.

Eniola Akinkuotu, Abuja

The Joint Health Sector Union on Thursday called off its 43-day-old strike, directing its members to resume work on Friday.

The body also lambasted the Federal Government for failing to meet its demands.

The directive was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the National Executive Council meeting of JOHESU and Assembly of Healthcare Professional Associations in Abuja.

The communiqué read in part, “The various gains from the meetings with the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, were presented to the NEC of JOHESU.

“After exhaustive deliberations and discussions, the NEC in session approved that the six-week old strike be suspended this day Thursday, May 31, 2018 because of the sympathy the unions have for the suffering Nigerian masses and also to pave way for further negotiations to continue on Monday, June 4, 2018.”

The union maintained that the strike was not political but was based on the principle of fairness and justice.

It, however, had harsh words for the Federal Government for failing to honour its promise of increasing the salaries of health workers.

*Irony of Life in Nigeria*
Rich man marries and have 4 children. Poor man marries and start mass production of children that he can't afford to train because the only thing that gives poor man joy is the body of his wife.
The country has beaten him to the level that sex is his only idea of enjoyment.

Politicians steal your money, sleep with your wife and girlfriends and sister, make sure you don't go to school, even when you struggle to, he makes sure you don't finish on time let alone getting a job.

He sends his children to the best schools abroad so they will take over from him when he is done playing with your future.

He initiates a poverty alleviation program, videos himself cutting tapes during the mounting of an electric pole. He gives you N4000, bags of rice at rallies and arms to fight his opponents.

He paints the roads and puts Street lights when there are no light in your home. You hail him!

He spends millions on billboards of his fake projects, hires the best PR experts to keep you drooling with hunger and uninformed and keep on doing damages to your common sense. You defend him.

Second tenure, no jobs, no food, the N4000 has finished and the bag of rice wasting in the pit of your toilet. He must recover the billions he spent buying your votes. For he is not qualified to lead but you qualified him.

You start making use of the guns he bought you. You kill the poor like yourself who is suffering the effects of the N4000 and bag of rice that you took. You try to Kidnap his friends, their police orderlies fire back at you.

His friends tell him that there is insecurity in town and it will affect their mobilization for him for second term.
He shouts ahhhh, second tenure is like the second round of sex that puts one to sleep after, except, perhaps, he works for vivid entertainment or one of those Hollywood porn industries.
He complains of lack of security to the commissioner of police and General Officer Commanding, Air Officer commanding or the Flag Officer Commanding.

He spends millions hosting them. They tell him what to do. By now, you have become a threat.

He buys even a bigger gun for the police and the military plus operational vehicles.

He pays for radio and TV jingles to warn you.

You rob, you die. You protest, you die. You stay at home, you die of starvation.

Then, you get recommended to a church and since you can't pay tithes, pastor turns you into an errand boy.
He sends you to buy biscuits for his children, wash pants for his wife and clean his cars.

You sweep the church for free while awaiting your heavenly reward while the pastor fly private jets and drive flashy sedans.

You are happy that your pastor is rich and argue for him in midst of your friends.

He runs to the UK at the slightest symptoms of headache but prays for you when you are sick and tells you to bring your sick mother to church for prayers instead of taking her to hospitals to waste money.
She dies and he tells you that it was God's will while his mother has been in the UK for months receiving the best treatment that tithes can buy.

He buys a new land for a new church branch, you help to carry blocks and turn concrete, then collect blessings as reward. You are happy to be working for the salvation of your soul, heaven will pay.
The pastor lives his heaven on earth.

The new church building is completed on your sweat.

He invites the president, governor, senator, house of representative member and every other person who made sure that you are poor by design.

The whole area is policed with guns and armored cars. You are comfortably seated at the back while straining your neck to see who and who came.

The president and governor and senator plus their contractor friends donate hundreds of millions for the new church while you cheer from the back.

The food they shared didn't get to you but you are happy the president and governor and senator came to your church. You even brag to others of how your pastor is well connected.

You get home, hunger Knocks angrily on the belly door, your neighbor bails you out while you wait for heaven to pay.

10 years on the jobless job, pastor's children have been sent abroad for studies. Age is no longer on your side, pastor hooks you up with another aunty that sweeps the church for free with no education just like you and Weds you both on a Friday evening church service and you are happy. Your children starts the cycle all over again.

What is the difference between an Ordinary Thief (OT) & a Political Thief (PT) ?*

*1)* The *Ordinary Thief* steals your money, bag, watch, gold chain etc.;
But the *Political Thief* steals your future, career, education, health & business!

*2)* The hilarious part is: The *Ordinary Thief* will choose whom to rob; But you, yourself chose the *Political Thief* to rob you.

*3)* The most ironic one: Police will chase and nab the *Ordinary Thief;* while the Police will look after and protect the *Political Thief!*

That’s the *travesty cum irony* of our current society!

I actually came here to read comments cos I knew I would see some very unintelligent comments comments coming out of supposed intelligent people. The doctors say JOHESU are not important yet they say with the same mouth that Nigerians are suffering cos of the strike. Someone said doctor's no send them then why the clamouring for them to call off. Am a Pharmacist in private practice, so the doctor superiority is not my concern though, but until Nigerians learn to call a spade spade, such industrial action will persist. And it's the institution Nigeria that needs total rehabilitation, we cry for change yet when the change is not from us personally we resist, and point fingers. Most here calling the the JOOHESU members names, would go to these same person's tomorrow for one help or the other. To me they have made their point and to some degree some sensitization to the rot in the public health sector and why things are not well in that sector, we should learn maybe you could exploit an area for your personal benefit tomorrow.

A brief tutorial. The first Nigerian Doctor began studies in Nigeria, but had to complete his studies in the UK, because the professional MBBS exams in Nigeria was not accredited at the time. Lab science in Nigeria is formulating all sort of ridiculous programs, unregulated by any sane body. That course is filled with dullards wearing white lab coats to cover their ignorance.

Not only Uniben but Jos. The Universities have also stressed that it's a mere bachelor's degree, with an extra 6-8 months on research methodology, and not a substitute for PHD. A PharmD I know complained bitterly were we worked together, as even her own colleague didn't give her any atom of extra regard or respect, neighter was she considered for extra pay because of that. I keep saying that these mushroom Doctorate are only tailored for the Civil service. What then happens if the government decides to privitize the health sector and the FMOH becomes a mere regulator?, many departments will revert back to 4yrs courses, as the 5-6yrs will add no extra financial value. Will a private hospital pay PharmD or MLSD of DNSC as much or close to a Doctor? Johesu and their sponsors remain myopic lots. While their counterparts in well meaning advanced countries go further to study Medicine, those in Nigeria feel they can attain the MBBS status by thuggery, strike and bullying.

The foundation of JOHESU is faulty at it's core. Every member has this mindset that "WE ARE UNITED AGAINST DOCTORS". Doctors are supposed to be seen as their benefactors, but they see them as oppressors. The association gives their members FALSE HOPES that they can achieve the status of a doctor through confrontation with doctors instead of through academic means (Studying Medicine). They have also brainwashed their members to think that you are nobody in the health sector if you are not a doctor (This is FALSE) . If you distinguish yourself as a nurse or pharmacists, you'll get the respect you deserve, even more than some doctors. I have many examples of highly respected nurses and pharmacists in the country that you'll never see in the gathering of JOHESU. These are nurses and pharmacists who have made names for themselves and even professors of medicine accord them their respect.

Lastly I'll like to advise the nurses and pharmacists. You are being used by these other guys. Medicine and dentistry, pharmacy and nursing are the 3 core clinical speciality. These other guys are upgraded technicians (they used to be diploma courses). They are using you guys to achieve their aims while you get little or nothing.

Also, for the gatemen, office clerks, record keepers who still think and hope that one day one day JOHESU will take them to the level of a medical doctor through strike actions and confrontations and insulting doctors on facebook; I say a big congratulations in advance to you.

Why did u hate Medical Laboratory Science??

Nigeria has really twisted the mentality of children of these days and you are just a testimony to that fact.

Not everybody wants to be a medical doctor for your information.

For example, a business minded science student will naturally prefer pharmacy to medicine. That is why you don't see majority of them fighting for hospital job.

I wish you well in your medical carrier but nobody is an impostor here.

I'm neither a doc or a pharmacist or a nurse
but the disparity and cheating is too much mhen.

let's call a spade a spade.
Thank u for calling a spade a spade , but I will tell u that u don't even know what the spade is in this subject matter .
Have u studied the breakdown of the pay slip of the Doctor in question . compare the basic salary per grade level. U will see that the retio is just 1:1.5 level for level
What make the difference in the salary is CALL DUTY ALLOWANCE. Most other health workers run shifts ( except for those working in the theatre like periop nurses and anaesthetic nurses and they are being paid accordingly, their salaries are more than their colleagues)
My call duty allowance alone is over 80k . people that run shift work for less than 2wks in a month ( hope u know ?) - 6hrs daily , and all sorts of off duties, eg if they do 5 days of night duty is like a week or 5days off
Do u know what calls means ? U come to work normally , for house officers like 6am ( for IPR) and u will start u call to cover for all others not on call from 4pm till 8am the next day to continue ur normal work ( many times u won't even take ur bath and u will put on tie as if all is well!)
The call each doctor is supposed to take is 40units/ month maximum for normal function of the brain ( WHO standard and that is what is obtained in the developed world ) .This is what we do withing a week or 2 in Nigeria.
That is why u see doctors being pained when this people make reference to our salary and the public will Carry it without knowing the real operations of the health sector . Have u seen the table posted here compering doctors and other workers salaries abroad ? Did u ask ur self why they do not fight over there on salary discrepancy? , because they know their input and are highly satisfied with their profession .It can only happen in Nigeria. Lab scientists hanging stethoscopes and parading themselves docs .
Do u know it is a crime to introduce urself as a doctor without adding the next suffix to it abroad? Eg I'm Dr dash , a toxicological pharmacist, I'm doctor that a colostomy nurse . it is only medical doctor that can address him or herself as docs without adding any suffix . Not here in Nigeria , they will even put doctor on duty stickers on their cars.
