Wrong again it's not mostly done in Nigeria , on the contrary Nigerian parents value education especially for the daughters so like it said

It's your parents , you should ask them why, that a question only they can answer not nairaland

Wasn't meant to be harsh just being realistic

No we are not a family on nairaland, this is the sort of mentality that makes girls cross Nigeria to meet a guy they met on Facebook.

How does registering with total strangers on a faceless forum make you a family ? You need to go out and make real friends young lady

speak to your uncles, aunts or maybe grandparents, they might be able to convince your dad, especially an educated relative.

If you're the only child of your parents and you're of legal age , then I will advice you consider marriage .

You can still further your studies while married .

Hi now I read this post as well. I now understand better, especially the only child part.
I really feel sorry for you, but know that is life. Allah will surely test each and everyone of us with a calamity in order to reward us if we pass or hold us accountable if we fail. Remember Prophet Ibrahim (AS) he was tested by commanding him to slaughter his favorite son...
Look around you everyone has his/her test already in progress in life. One important thing g is that Allah will never test you with what you lack capacity to do.
Send me a pm and I hope to be able to assist more.
