President Goodluck Jonathan is due to arrive in Paris today at the start of a two-day visit to France.
The visit is at the invitation of President Nicholas Sarkozy. While in France, he will participate in the 25th France – Africa Summit, in Nice, the fifth largest city in France.
Already, the Acropolis International Centre, venue of the summit, is wearing a new look.
Governors Gabriel Suswan of Benue and Sullivan Chime of Enugu arrived there yesterday ahead of the President.
The Nigerian Ambassador to France, Mr Gordon Harry Bristol said there could not have been a better time for Nigeria to make maximum impact as the giant of Africa by putting up the best outing at the Summit. The Nigeria Embassy in Paris has temporarily relocated to Nice, to give the visiting President the very best of reception and preparation for the talks.
Internationally renowned for its tourist attractions, Nice popularly known as Nice Cote d’Azur, according to the mayor of the city, Christian Estrosi, will soon be celebrating its 150 years of unification with France.
A drive round the host Nice, located between the mountains and sea of Italy, Savoy and France, shows a heavy presence of security officials drawn from the country’s capital to ensure that everything goes well throughout the period of the event.
