The Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) note with admiration and commendation the declaration of June 12 by President Muhammadu Buhari as the real democracy day deserving not only recognition but a public holiday.

We are indeed appreciative of the hostric move by the people's president who has always shown that he is holding in trust the mandate of the people.

Nigerians have always trusted President Buhari knowing fully well that he has everything to reposition the country and restore her lost glory.

It is heartwarming that he has laid to final rest the agitation of many years for the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 2003 presidential election, Chief MKO Abiola to be recognized and declared accordingly. The conferment of the highest honor (GFCR) on the acclaimed winner of June 12 presidential election is a watershed.

The recognition of our past heroes as announced by the president on June 6th, 2018 was made complete with another posthumous honor accorded late Chief Gani Fawehinmi SAN.

For us in Kwara State, we are solidly behind President Muhammadu Buhari and his lofty plans to take the country out of the woods.

However, we will advise the president to consider the threat from the National Assembly as the barking of the lost dogs in the wilderness. We have cautioned them times without a number but it is evident they are on a voyage to return the country to dark days.

Nigerians know that their rantings amounted to nothing, because they have shown they are anti-people and self-centered.

It is an open secret that the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki who is the chairman of the National Assembly has consistently demonstrated his penchant for abuse of office. How was the former chairman of Ekiti local government area of Kwara State, Hon. Dele Abiodun removed from office? After Dele Abiodun won all legal battles up to Supreme Court level, Saraki again failed to obey the judgement. There are many instances to be cited, we leave it at that for now.

We can only pray for good health and strength for the president to steer the ship of Nigeria to a safe end.
