Bro catfish business is not an easy business especially for struggling farmers. It's only fish farmers that can understand that news. Before relocating back to Lagos I stayed in Oyo town for a while after my NYSC. I was into fish farming there, there are professional catfish thieves that majors just in stealing catfish. A novice can't steal from a fish pond, bros if this people find there way into your pond and they drag your pond just once just forget that pond because you can't meet anything there. Am talking based on experience, they can steal over 700kg worth of fish once. The owner of the farm will definitely add to what as being stolen, he will include the emotional trauma caused, money for getting a lawyer and probably that wasn't the first time such will occur but I can tell you that the worth of fish those people stole won't be less that 2.5million naira

One thousand pieces can worth N4m. One man paid N5,000 for one last time and the size was worth the price. Fish you use 2 pots to cook.

that is true.of course the total value might have been inflated by the owner but u can have 2000catfish in a pond with average size of 2kg.I.e 2kg*2000=4000kg.I think the average price is #500-600 now.4000kg×#500/600=2-2.4mil.mind u the fish will be a mix of diff kg I.e 10kg,8,5,2 etc.

oga fish ponds worth more than that u know.... people just type wat they don't understand !...... fishes r not like chickens, they are bred in their thousands .. so if u have enough patience for your fish to reach 1 year and u have like 5000 surviving adult catfish.. weh 1 may sell for 1300.... oga multiply 1300 * 5k

Pls stop saying what you people don't understand. There are lot of people that use 10m, 30m or even more to feed catfish into table size.

Thanks for the question. A while ago, I spent 2.5m to feed my catfish but when I sold them I realised 2m without any profit and I reared them for 6 months. Do you know where the problem came from?

They are stealing them but unknown to me whenever I get to farm, I might found 2 or 3 catfish dead and floating on the water. I will just remove them and throw them away and feed them. It got a point that I found 20 catfish floating which sometimes makes me to drain the water to treat them and later found about 30 more that did not flow on the water. It occurs like that till when I noticed that they are disturbing them. Thus, it is not by stealing 10000 pieces. Just imagine, 6 months work without any profit and a shortage of 500k

Is 1000kg . So if you have sorted them to at least 2kg average then you must have 500pcs as one ton. Meanwhile a plastic conrainertmostly will take 50kg .so for one ton you only need 20 of such plastic containers.
