Real Madrid hired Spain national team coach Julen Lopetegui as its new coach on Tuesday and will take over duties once the World Cup is done. But back in November, Lopetegui ignited the debate about who the world's best soccer player is. That debate usually focuses on Barcelona's Lionel Messi and Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo, who have led Los Blancos to three straight Champions League titles. "Messi is the best player in history," Lopetegui said. "He has extraordinary players and a coach who has given him a plus". Spain coach Julen Lopetegui said he has voted for Barcelona and Argentina star Lionel Messi to win The Best FIFA Men's Player of 2016. Lopetegui selected Messi, 29, ahead of Real Madrid and Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo and Madrid and Spain defender Sergio Ramos for the new aware. "He's the best player ever, I agree," Lopetegui said, in an interview with Argentinian sports channel 'TyC Sports'. For the head coach of 'La Roja', Argentina are one of the favourites for the upcoming World Cup thanks to the Barcelona star.
