Following the successful completion of the 3 days hand washing sensitization campaign in public schools in Abia state, Queen Chikezie Ijeoma, the founder of Help Keep Clean Foundation has commenced a media tour to several TV and Radio stations in the capital city.

The vibrant young lady was a guest in two channels at TSTV ‎cable network and Peoples Television yesterday, where she spoke extensively on the success and impact of the hand washing campaign recently concluded in Abia state. The exercise which involved over 10 public schools and about 7000 pupils, saw the NGO distribute illutrated hand washing story book and cleaning materials.

Speaking at the interview session, Ijeoma said that her team will be building up on the hand washing project by sinking boreholes in rural communities. " I am truly happy with the success of the project in my state, I hope to extend the exercise to other states but for now, we are targeting to start sinking boreholes in rural communites"

"Accessibility of Water supply is one of the major challenges of  ‎sustaining the hand washing campaign in most communities, and we have resolved to take up the responsibility of embarking on making water available which is not only important but essentially ingrediential  for healthy living" she concluded.

I just can't phatom the idea behind this beauty queen stuff. So what if you are coincidentally born with some physically appealing attributes that is acceptable by the standard of our colonisers and hence by a sizable percentage of the population? Eh so what? Did you choose the way you are born? Why should you get the attention, the prize, the gifts, the honour and what have you over other intellectually and mentally blessed individuals of both genders?

Well done... more grease to her elbow.

Did you notice the pictures of heads of state? From Murtala, Obasanjo, Shagari, Buhari, Babangida, Shonekan, Abacha, Abubakar, Obasanjo, Yaradua, Jonathan, Buhari. What struck me is that none of these people made potable water nationally available. A very very simple thing, no high tech involved, yet it takes a small girl from a beauty pageant to think of providing water (from borehole) to rural citizens.

It makes me shake my head... I was 7 in 1984 when I heard Fela sing "na 1990, they go give us water"... and it seemed so far in the future, but the song gave me hope. It's 2018 and water is still a problem for most. Sadly, I think 2057, when I'm 80, I'll still be complaining that there's no water.

Meanwhile South Korea went from rural backwater in 1950s to a developed country - global powerhouse - by 1995. Here in Nigeria we're still dealing with power outage and lack of water.

We need to get our priorities straight up for once.

Go to most rural areas and you see bore holes littering every corner , but electricity to power them

So backward in the 21st century.
Has she not heard of pipe borne water and taps?
She needs to get back to the drawing board for a better, more meaningful project.

Is it her responsibility to provide pipe-borne water? So she should provide borehole, pipes, taps, chlorine treatment, and all the things that come with pipe-borne water? Even if all she does is provide one day of pure water, I would applaud. It's a lot better than government has been doing for its citizens. Unfortunately - I've looked into it - government won't even give right-of-way for people to install pipes if its not solely on private property.

Yes, it is her responsibility as a celebrity who takes up a lot of our public attention.
Is that not what celebrities in obodo oyinbo land do for their countries to be so nice for even our president to abandon his Aso Rock clinic of billions in budget without paracetamol for treatment there?
As for your remarks on government, can you please explain how the people are different from their own government

At least commend a good Work when you see one.
How many communities in your State or even Village has water or borehole.
Haven't you heard about Manual Water Pumps, or even well?
Must Boreholes be with Electricity. The Young Lady is trying her best, she isn't the Government, so you can either Compliement her and show support, or take your rant to somewhere else.
