Anyway it's good you realise that the sickness is not about her gene. Aside malaria, AA don't fall sick easily like that. Sickness is synonymous with SS.
I only wish intending couples take these things seriously so they can stop bringing children forth to suffering health-wise.

I know of a family with 2 SS kids. They justify themselves with d question: won't we have children ni? But neither parents nor children are enjoying themselves now.

The bolded is just it. Not only the generation but the couples and children involved as well.
It's unfortunate that those children will just grow up into misery cos of the 'love' mistake or ignorance of the parents.
While they deserve to be happy, anybody that witnesses their crisis will fear fear.
If at all anyone marry SS for love or pity, they should at least try to adopt children and enjoy the se.x and companion part only....but some will not hear.
I even read in one similar thread like this, where some were encouraging "faith", that it can change the genotype.....though I believe in the power of God to do anything but some faith are better not exercise blindly.

They are humans and deserved to be loved.
Just saying reality here. In order to reduce the rate at which they are born, couples, especially intending ones should choose wisely and medically.

Yeah, right! these things happen when we least expect them. Going for Medical tests before marriage is goof but sometimes, we could be blinded by love and then, boom! I once dated a Lady with Sickle Cell Anemia and I can tell you, they aren't as weak as people generally believe they are. I support your motion anyway but sometimes, love happens.

It's a genetic disorder, scientifically speaking, it doesn't go away.

Don't know hw true is it, but I do hear people say, dia is a certain age, probably 30yrs or so dat shud an SS get 2 such age, he/she wud be free 4rm any form of death which myt arise as a result of d crises dey face, except a natural death.

I'm AA, got a friend who is SS, she's just so nice 2 a fault, I know she has feelings 4 me, but I'm just smhw scared abt wantin 2 date, not 2 talk of marrying her. I myt probably av been dead b4 now, but ol tanx 2 God who used her 2 rescue me while in skul. She has sacrifice so much 4 me, herself nd her mum. Apart from priapism, which can be managed, sickle cell doesn't have any major effects on fertility.

Sorry for your loss. I understand the fear but then if you were SS would you like to be totally off the table for love and relationships? Even with the attendant challenges, we still look for love hoping we'd get lucky.
