Okorocha Builts And Donates Building To Journalists by iwithnessnews: 11:19am On Jun 17, 2018
Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has built and donated an ultra-modern secretariat to the Nigerian Union Of Journalist Imo State Council, during a media summit at Owerri
Governor Okorocha who gave a keynote address at the media summit advocated proper investigative journalism and accurate news reportage.
Addressing a cross section of the media practitioners, the state governor noted that inaccurate information poison the mind of the people towards their leaders.
Governor Okorocha said most leaders desire to do well but journalist most times creates bad impression of leaders in the country.
He described a good leader as one, who is able to see far above others, speaks graciously and above all sacrifice alot for the upliftment and progress of those he is leading.
"As we grow up in this world time changes, give new ideas a chance, if we keep doing the old things the same old way, we shall keep getting the same old result, so those of you who are practicing journalism I urge all of you to have an open mind while dealing with issues"
Governor Okorocha maintained that all hands must be on deck to address the problem the country is facing rather than destructive criticism.
He added that leaders in Nigeria have refused to make sacrifice and that is why there is a questionable leadership in a country where there is abundance of natural resources.
President, Union of Journalist Mr. Abdulwaheed Odusile who was represented at the occasion by the Vice President Zone C, Mr. Chris Isiguzo described that the idea of the summit is for media practitioners to create a platform for the public to interface with the government and relevant stakeholders to discuss topical issues that affects the nation and chart the positive way forward.
"Imo is the second State in the country that will be organizing this can of event and is commendable".
