What Is 16:8 Fasting Diet? And Its Weight Loss Benefits. What is 16:8 Fasting Diet? As researchers confirms the weight loss benefits. This is a time -restricted eating form of fasting that limits food consumption to certain hours of each day. Researchers from the University of Illinois at Chicago have shown that fasting for 16 hours of the day is an effective weight loss measure and can also lower blood pressure. As reported in the Journal Nutrition and Healthy Aging, the researchers studied 23 obese people with an average age of 45 years who had an average (BMI) body mass index of 35. Between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm, the participants could eat any type and quantity of food they desired but for the remaining 16 hours they could only drink water or calorie- free beverages. The researchers measured various factors continuously for 12 weeks, including the individual’s blood pressure, fat mass, and cholesterol and glucose level and compared the findings with a group from a previous weight loss trial.
