It's not just about the 11 players, it's about what your country represents. It is unpatriotic to wish your own country ill to the advantage of another. It's a World Cup. A competition of countries. They represent our Green White Green. They represent us as a nation. We should be loyal to our flag and anthem, no matter what, not only out if convenience. When it comes to the World Cup, I'm sorry, country supercedes club.
I'm not even a Barca fan you can check some of my previous posts I'm a hardcore Ronaldo and Madrid fan but Nigerians are not mature enough to handle a victory over Argentina. They will cause mayhem in Russia.

Messi doesn't deserve to be disgraced out of the world cup by the 3rd worst team. Messi's reputation doesn't deserve to be marred by a team that wouldn't survive France in knockout stage.

Ofcourse there was contact, but wasn't that serious, the Iceland guy was clever, cos they needed to score by all means &see they'll be able to get a point.
50-50 chance of penalty may be awarded in such case.
Well, I have seen worst cases than that, but some Refs do over-look.
I thank God that the goal wasn't scored.

That is y the var was introduced any 1 the ref didn't c they will alert him to go and watch a replay and confirm his decision

So Nigeria should lose just because you dont want Messi to be dragged.
Who the hell is Messi that he cannot be dragged when world presidents are even insulted day in day out.

You will be put to shame with your Messi soon.
you know what stake all your life savings on super eagles to beat Argentina and see if patriotism will enter the pitch and help you win your bet.

Well said.

Too many self hating iddiots on this nairaland. They don't know how dumb they sound. They are choosing Messi over their country. They do not care how over a hundred million Nigerians would feel if the Super eagles lose. Messi is more important to them.

Morrroons.

The thing tire me. I would given that fool an e-slap if it was possible.

The truth is, has Nigeria really given him joy? You see the country owe us a lot same way we owe our country. When a society fails its people you expect such statements.

I haven't given up on Nigeria as as country but truth remains this country has failed A LOT of people save the privileged few unlike countries in the West.

Try visit travel section and notice how many people are praying to get visa to leave the country even for second world nations.

We will continue to work hard and hope things get better irrespective...

Argentina is no better neither is Brazil but their supporters support nonetheless.

Have you seen the poverty in India? But when the country gets on the cricket pitch, the whole country supports her team.

America has failed a lot of blacks but you see these blacks out there supporting the basketball and athletes team all the same.

Even England is tired of scoring.

I really do not get their line if reasoning. It's disloyal and unpatriotic. It's that simple.

Honestly, my brother. I don't understand these people.

You should know many people like you staked their live savings on Argentina to beat Croatia as well as Iceland, we both know what happened to thier money.
This is football, you can't be 100% sure, that you put your money on a particular team doesn't mean you are sure of thier win.

I agree, but that's on an individual level. When the stakes are higher, like when countries are competing in the world cup, you support yours. Unless you have concrete ties to another country, eg dual citizenship, spouse or whatever, then your allegiance should be to your country. Country supercedes club IMO.
Football is a thing that brings joy to a lot of people Uncle. We, football lovers love football because it brings joy to us not because of citizenship. I don't care about rugby or hockey because they don't give me any excitement.

Messi and Barcelona has never stopped from giving me joy unlike Super Eagles. N/B I stopped supporting SE passionately in 2002 after our woeful loss to Sweden in the world cup.

We supporters of Messi want Messi to advance and it is unfortunate that it will be against Nigeria this time.
