- LGA staff strength reduced by 323 - dropped council wage bill by N19million - reduced primary school wage bill by N50million The ongoing reforms initiated by the governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency The Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson is yielding positive results in all ramifications. Ogbia local government which had a staff strength of 1, 049 has now been reduced to 736. Also having an over bloated wage bill 83 000.000.00 to now 64million naira. Primary school sector had 127million to 77million. The reform has now made it possible for the local government to carry out its own developmental projects. The chairman of the council while speaking at the town hall meeting also stressed the need for the people of Ogbia to unite and work with the governor Dickson lead administration. she further enlightened the audience about the importance of the reforms, stressing that it was not a witch-hunt as purported by some. Mrs Naomi Ogoli who spoke addressed the audience in Ogbia dialect, appealed to all those of retirable age to step aside for the younger generation. Mrs Ogoli further stated that it was needless of them to reduce their ages in a bid to retain their jobs as that act has robbed many qualified young graduates. She encouraged the young graduates to take advantage of ongoing employment opportunity provided by the state government through this reforms and shun violence. She further reaffirmed the people's commitment and support to the Governor Dickson lead restoration administration. Hon. Mitema Obodor who also present at the town Hall meeting, enjoined the Ogbia people accept the reforms and play by its rules. In his words " I will not support illegalities. The member representing constituency two in the Federal House of representatives, Hon. (Mrs) Sadadaguo Omoni Festus, stressed the need for the people of the area to accept the reforms and those due for retirement and illegally employed should give way. She also applauded the government for coming with such meaningful initiative which has helped to further the development of the council. In a closing remark the commissioner for information, Hon.Daniel Iworiso-Markson expressed appreciation to the Bayelsa state governor, His Excellency, Hon.Henry Seriake Dickson for cleaning this mess caused by the scourge of corruption in the public service to safeguard the future of Bayelsans. While stating that ogbia is emerging stronger and stronger the information boss clearly noted that the state is now employing a system that recognises and rewards merit.
