TheIjeleNwa:
In most states, child abuse or negligence may be charged as either a felony or a less serious offence, depending on the circumstances. The most severe cases of child abuse can carry felony lifetime sentences, while the least serious cases are considered gross misdemeanors which could potentially result in no prison time. Punishment will typically be more severe if the offender has a prior record of criminal child abuse activity and greatly reduced if there is no prior record.

For sentencing purposes, a person charged with child abuse or negligence may enter a plea of guilty, not guilty, or no contest. In a large number of cases, sentencing can include probation or a prison term of up to five years.
Sentencing in more serious cases may include a longer prison term.

Other possible penalties and/or consequences can include:

Lifetime requirement to register as a child sexual offender
Termination of parental rights
Ruined reputation
No right to bear a child
Criminal record
Supervised access to the child
Physical or actual loss and enjoyment of a child
Continual involvement with a child protective services agency

*that swimming pool should hve been hedged.

You are a goat for this post. I'll be right back to modify this with additional insults.

D'banj can't face any legal punishment as he was away. The mother or whoever was the responsible adult in whose care the child was left will face the legal punishment if any.

Where is UNICEF?

Where are the child rights advocates

Sue them mehn!!! They should be sued for negligence and child abuse! This should serve as a warning to everybody to be careful with children.

Nonsense. Am just angry at the parents!!!

We have all been negligent at some point in our lives. We know that the loss of a thing is much more intolerable than the negligible act that led to it. Let alone the death of a loved one. I can imagine Dbanj feeling terrible and devastated. That's his only son!! His only son!!

If you have felt the pain of a break up with someone you truly love, the you should be able to understand that the pain in Dbanj right now eh.... Only God can heal him.
I hope they stop

They are tormenting the dude despite the loss

So bloody what. Didn't he know there is an open pool inside his house with a baby? That's very careless and irresponsible of him. Some countries won't even give you a baby for adoption with that kind of open pull in the house

Was it the wife that built the pool?

angry angry Dbanj and his wife are fools. Who keeps a swimming pool indoor when you have underage kids? They should be jailed for second degree murder. Whipping up sentiments online does not erase the fact that that child was murdered by the foolishness of a parent who thought unprotected indoor swimming pool is a display of wealth and opulence. In countries like Iraq or Vietnam, Dbanj and his wife will be beheaded for this act of foolishness.
the swimming pool was there before the boy was born. Was he expected to carry the swimming pool on his head and take it out of the house because he had a child? His only mistake here was not making it child proof or even putting a door at the entrance to where the pool is.

This is not a matter of whether he was around or not but not being proactive and safety conscious even after t h e danger was clearly pointed to him. It was like a ticking bomb waiting to explode.

Hope he has learnt the hard way and make all necessary adjustments to avoid any future disaster. Meanwhile accept my heartfelt condolence at this trying times of yours.

Let’s not be insensitive, okay.
A life (so young) has been lost.
empathise if you can or just ignore.
And there is a lesson in there for us all too,
Baby proofing a house is sine qua non to child raising.
Sometimes, we cannot be too careful really.
But these parents are suffering right now and are beating themselves up,
Even if they were careless, they have paid the ultimate price for it.
Let’s show some empathy please.

What was the wife doing? No house help? This accident can also be a tough time for their relationship because blames would be flying around.

sorry u don't hav sense like dbanj,

we all makes mistake and every body needs help.
he built a pool dt cost much but failed to cure it with a fence even with a wire like long tennis court when he knew he has kid(s) at home.

when my baby was 7months old I secured my house very well but its not a guarantee dt casualties will nt happen but not a preventable ones.

You must be stupid like the man that got you pregnant.

My point remains - Dbanj is going through a lot at the moment and crucifying him will not remedy the wrong done but will inflict more pains. My second point your fish brain failed to grasp is that Death is certain and its hour uncertain. Precautionary measures notwithstanding. Even if the pool were fenced or Barbwired, death will come if it will come. More careful people have died and have lost their loved ones. So shut up and sympathise with the bereaved rather than being an animal with no heart.

If not that death is a bad thing to wish anyone, I would have prayed similar fate befall you and you take joy in seeing people crucifying you couple with the pain of losing that your kid.

You are not getting it, are you?

If it requires this kind of outrage/outcry to drum commonsense into the dull heads of Nigerian celebrities, so be it.

We all had this tragedy coming! The way and manner simple-minded fellows in the name of celebrities go about flaunting wealth and acting irrationally, there is no how there wouldn't be dire consequences.

Let people keep pouring out their anger and emotions, who knows, it might save some defenseless wards and children from unpardonable negligence of some pea-brained adults.

And the pain of the bereaved shouldn't matter because you want to drum sense into celebrity. This could be suicide-inducing for a feeble mind.

Dbanj and others have realised the danger already. Its time to send condolences to help heal his pain.

He was, judging by these photos, a proper parent. There is no bigger punishment to such parent than a loss of his own child.
