A Kenyan preacher who has been expelled from his church after he allegedly had sex with some of his female members now claims the women seduced him.

The preacher, David Kamau, has been accused of sleeping with seven female members of his church.

One of the women reportedly delivered a baby while another one is around five months pregnant.

When the news broke, Nyumba Kumi leaders led by their chairman from Kiamaina ward, Benson Mureu and other preachers from the area, stormed the church premises, closed it down and removed a signpost at the gate of the church.

Wanjiku, who is recently married, told The Nairobian how she fell in Kamau’s trap after he promised to do a church wedding for her.

“I slept with him for three weeks without my husband finding out. I still don’t understand why I did it, yet I knew it was morally wrong,” said Wanjiku.

She added that he promised that they would get married after he was transferred to another church in Molo and was already planning to divorce his current wife.

“He told me that he was waiting for his transfer to be approved. On asking him what would happen to his wife, he told me that she was not good in bed like me. He revealed that once the transfer was approved, he would divorce her and marry me,” said Wanjiku.

Another woman who spoke to The Nairobian, Mama Kamau, revealed how the pastor approached her claiming God had revealed to him that her boyfriend was going to bewitch her.

She broke off the relationship.

“He told me that my man was planning to bewitch me. He instilled fear in me. He told me that the only way to avoid being bewitched was for an anointed man to conduct a ritual with me,” she said.

The said ritual turned to be sex escapades with the preacher for three days while her husband was away.

“I can’t explain how I gave in to his tricks. At first, I thought it would only happen once but he came for two more days,” said Mama Kamau.

Speaking to The Nairobian, Pastor Kamau denied the allegations, claiming the women approached him and he expelled one of them who was pressing him too hard.

“I know the complainants and they have been members of my church. I am surprised that some of them are accusing me yet they are the ones who approached me. The Nyumba Kumi leaders did not give me a chance to defend myself and accused me of being a sex pest,” said the pastor.

“I have seen many temptations. I didn’t understand why women, married and unmarried kept approaching me, yet I am a married man. I never slept with them. Some of them had to be dismissed from the church,” said Kamau, adding that the women wanted him out of the church.

“I turned down their advances and it did not go well with them. They organized a gang to fight back. They have changed the story to make me look bad. I have not sinned in any way,” he insisted.

He faulted the Nyumba Kumi leaders for closing down his church, claiming he was licensed though he did not report the matter to the police.

“It was wrong for them to close down my church without a fair hearing. My church is licensed as Chosen Holy Church and this is just a plan to taint my name and that of the church,” he claimed.


The church was earlier registered as Holy Vision Church but Pastor Kamau changed the name to Chosen Holy Church recently after the reports reached leaders of the former church who distanced themselves from him.

He said that he no longer lives in the area fearing attacks from the Nyumba Kumi and residents.

However, Nyumba Kumi chairman Mureu said they held a meeting with Kamau, other preachers from the area and five complainants, but the accused pastor failed to defend himself and instead walked out.

“Pastor Kamau failed to defend himself against the allegations. He couldn’t face the women and deny the allegations against him. His reaction was very telling and we had to take action against him,” said Mureu.
