Yeah i know many people will turn their noses but lets be real here if you are a lover of novels you must ve read at least 1 M&B and if you are a romantic (like moi) then you must ve read more than a dozen although i don't read them as i used to(i left teenagehood long ago ) i never the less go through it if i come across it. but do anyone out there remember authors like Daniel Steele? Michelle Reid or series like temptation, intimates e.t.c do they still produce these books? when it comes to romantic fiction m&b is it. |

Re: Hello? Mills & Boon Anyone? by Ashbaby(f): 7:57pm On Jan 11, 2006 |
I read one or two M&B's. Man, those things are tooooo steamy to read more of. I couldn't stand them and by grade seven, I couldn't open one even if it was right infront of me. I was more of Sweet Valley....kids, twins and High. I don't know if anyone else read those books, but I was soooo dedicated to them! |
Re: Hello? Mills & Boon Anyone? by hotspice(f): 2:48pm On Jan 13, 2006 |

Mills&Boon was an addiction 4 me,but as i grew older it became tirin n d story sorta monotonous. Its basically d same plot writn in a million ways.It still holds my interest once in a while.I love stories wit lotsa twists, like d usual beautiful girl doesnt always av 2 marry d handsome guy we r certain she'l marry |

Re: Hello? Mills & Boon Anyone? by maedan(f): 2:27am On Nov 25, 2009 |
Yep, they still exist!! I think they just celebrated their 50th anniversary---or is it 100th ?? Anyway, for the true fans, you might be happy to know that those favourite writers of yours like Emma Darcy, Carole Mortimer still write even today - tho' I'm sure they must be in their 80s at least . Can't stand to read one now, but in those days, hmmn. Well letz just say it was a craze. It was fun while it lasted sha . |

Mills and boon is my book any day any time but i prefer the old ones (the white or the red ones) and harlequin presents those stories are decent and not as sexy as the others like blaze and sort. I read mills and boon and harlequin free online their website is www.millsandboon.co.uk and www.eharlequin.com. you can check it any time they are so nice, they have celebrated 100 years. Has anyone read any of Judith McNaught books? They are the bomb! |
Re: Hello? Mills & Boon Anyone? by maedan(f): 1:35pm On Nov 25, 2009 |
Thanks for the website adds, but I do hope they're really free to read! Maybe I'll find those old faves of mine - and you're right, they're far better than the latest versions! |
Re: Hello? Mills & Boon Anyone? by SisiKill1: 3:06pm On Nov 25, 2009 |
Did Danielle Steele write under Mills & Boon? Worst M&B writer was Betty Neels. My God that woman (whom i'm convinced is a man) had the horriblest story lines. You know how you are reading a book and feel the urge to reach in and slap one of the characters? Well for me, it was the author. Not only did i want to slap her, i want to kill her. . .She was that bad. |
Re: Hello? Mills & Boon Anyone? by MyneWhite1(f): 8:42pm On Nov 25, 2009 |
Betty Neels was surely the lamest story lines and she did quite a few doctor plots, ahhhhh. But there was one sweet one she did. All those M&Bs motivated my own book and you can download it now, http://stores.lulu.com/store.php?fAcctID=4531432 |
Re: Hello? Mills & Boon Anyone? by maedan(f): 1:54am On Nov 26, 2009 |
LOL @ Sisi_kill & Myne White, Betty Neels was indeed annoying-we only read her those days, if one was desperate! Lol. Penny Jordan, Carole Mortimer, Anne Mather etc were d general faves. And no, Danielle Steele never wrote M&B. |

Re: Hello? Mills & Boon Anyone? by DonEse125(f): 6:13pm On Dec 04, 2009 |
I was definitely into them when i was much younger but i got over em real fast. The storylines are basically the same-guy meets girl, guy loses girl, guy and girl get back together again. |
Re: Hello? Mills & Boon Anyone? by dominique(f): 12:25pm On Dec 05, 2009 |
iice:i swear to God iice, it took me over a minute to decipher that!!!! |
Re: Hello? Mills & Boon Anyone? by lashontae(f): 12:46am On Dec 15, 2009 |
I read gazillions of M and B books. I read em morning, afternoon, nights , during boring classes, if 1 was available, it would surely be in the middle of my notes, so I could read while the teacher thot I was concentrating on my books! I dnt really read them anymo tho, xcept wen am in the mood for some sappy love stories cos they are basically the same plots. I didnt read alot of betty Neals bak then, but the few I read, I was like -WTF? Penny Jordan and Carole Mortimer were the bomb tho. Still hav the tatterd remnants of their books-my Oh my-where they good! Now-I think Jude Devereux and Judith McNaught are the shizzle. 'Remembrance' and 'A knight in Shining Armour' by Jude Devereux are classic tales of a timeless love that transcends all obstacles, with lovable heroes so chilvarous you fall in love with them and dont want to share him with any other reader. lol. 'Whitney, My Love' and 'Paradise' by Judith McNaught? Mmmmmmm, words cannot explain! I also recently started payin alot of attention to LaVyrle Spencer, she good! |
Re: Hello? Mills & Boon Anyone? by iice(f): 2:38pm On Dec 15, 2009 |

Re: Hello? Mills & Boon Anyone? by Ifez: 3:48pm On Dec 15, 2009 |
Sisi_Kill: Sisi_Kill, you've just hit the nail on the head for me. God, she (or he) was terrible. And not just Betty Neels, there were some male M&B writers that should have been banned from writing romance. They make the heroines seem so pathetic and needy--like something you can snap into three pieces with just one slap. Lol! Anyway, you can't talk about M&B authors without mentioning Penny Jordan -- she rocked! I must have read thousands of M&B's when I was in JSS, but stopped once I discovered the James Hadley Chase novels. Lol! Even Chases doesn't cut it for me anymore. M&B's are like Indian Movies of those days. They were cool when we were young, but at this age, I'll probably throw up if I come across one. Ugghhh -- Too cheesy! Morden day M&B = Twilight series. Does anyone agree? |
Re: Hello? Mills & Boon Anyone? by agentzakky(m): 1:22pm On May 12, 2011 |
i read more than 500 copies between jss2 and ss1(dropped it to give way for james hadley chase) my favourite authors are sally wentworth, penny jordan, chalotte lamb. i preffered silhouette though, especially special editions. |

Sisi and Myne, I'm soooooooo glad some people share my view on Betty Neels' novels. I thought I was the only one. I just can't stand them. I am a great Mills and Boon reader! Ann Mather is my favourite author. I was shaped by these novels, and they helped in making me think of forming my own romance series. I am grateful to God that my wish has been fulfilled. Mine is called DeRafelo Romance. I have written two novels already: OBSESSION and HIS SIN. The third novel STORMY AFFAIR is coming up before the month ends. I have them in: Kizito Bookshop, Area One, Abuja. Joeson Bookshop, Oguta Rd, Onitsha. Olowu Book Centre, Ikeja, Lagos. Anderson Bookshop, Surulere, Lagos. Eastern shop, Roban Stores, Abic Bookshop - all in Enugu. If anybody has time, please look for them, read them, and tell me what you think. Thanks everyone!!! |
