A break-in and harassing phone calls preceded the death of a baby girl and the suicide of the girl’s father, the Holmes County sheriff said. Police got a call that Lavonte kidnapped the child from her mother’s home and ran off in a pickup truck. Police chased the truck through multiple counties before Lavonte's truck ran into a ditch near Moorhead. Realizing that he was cornered, the coward shot and killed the young girl and then himself. The child’s body was found lifeless on his lap. |
