Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria, VON, Chief Osita Okechukwu, has stated that foremost nationalist and Nigeria’s first president, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, would have supported the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019, if he was alive.

Speaking yesterday in Enugu, he insisted that the re-election of Buhari would afford the South-East an opportunity to produce the country’s president in 2023, adding that Igbo block vote for the President in next year’s election would be the most pragmatic and fastest route to securing a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction.

Okechukwu also said 95 per cent of Igbo clamouring for restructuring are in support of a united Nigeria, adding that an Igbo presidency will usher in and fully integrate the race into mainstream of Nigeria’s politics and automatically end long years’ sulk of marginalisation.

Of course he would have backed buhari. He was Mr one naijeriya who backed Tafawa balewa, Ahmadu bello, Shehu Shagari and even backed Nigeria during the civil war.

Without a doubt, Zik would have backed buhari

Honestly, we can't say. Who knows? But what we know is that Igbo Presidency 2023 by re-electing Buhari 2019 is the best course for Ndigbo.

Of course, he will . This was the same rationale Zik expressed to his subjects- he will rather support the Sardunna into power with the mind that as the former is not as educated as him, it will be easier to smatch power from Ahmadu Bello than his southern counterpart. Little did he know.

History is about to repeat itself
