GOT Waving Flag all the way turned up, Akon should step with his format jor, always coming to 9Ja to collect $1milla for shows and then promise our artists one  silly deal.If he had any interest in our artists he would have featured one of them in "OH AFRICA" its an african world cup for goodness sake.Instead Na Kerry hilson wey no even know road to africa im come feature, make that guy no come here dey lie for us again, after all Wyclef no talk say im go sign anybody but im dey always feature our artists for im main album,as for Akon? leave that guy him be correct Yahoo jor! grin

~Love K'naan's "Wave Your Flag" it's synonymous w/ the spirit of football & how the fans wave their flag to support their teams! I saw him perform at the concert & it was uplifing seeing how the flags were waving at the performance! I'm not keen on football but i shared a moment w/ all the anticipated football fans around the world!!

~I like the chorus to Akon's song. . . .

~Muki are you too young to remember the original "Zangalewa" been popular in Sa.Lone? I was pleasantly surprised when i heard the chorus to Shakira's "Waka Waka"!

Yeah, my cousins who were born in Bauchi Nigeria taught me that song. So, it was really weird, cos I heard it the first time and I was singing along already.

Even my Sierra Leonan friend knows it!

When i heard 'wave your flag' for the first time, i thought it was written by one of these legends, u know its so deep and rich unlike these flaky lyrics of today's singers.

Seeing it was done by such a relatively unknown artist makes it more so appealing. It's a song for a life time.

Any body with a link to the full lyrics?

K'Naan's Waving Flag "Coca Cola Celebration mix" - official World Cup 2010 anthem + lyrics

The Dusty Foot Philosopher and Troubadour man, @iamknaan, is the singer behind the official anthem for the Mzansi Mundial in June this year. Waving Flag, probably K'Naan's most popular song to date, is undoubtedly an African song and calls on us to "release our African rhythm all over the world".

The Somalian rapper, K'Naan Warsame, is based in Toronto, Canada and Los Angeles, USA. The video is directed by Nabil Elderkin and produced by Sol Guy. There is a cameo by Damian Marley. The original lyrics for Waving Flag can be found here. Here are the lyrics for the remix.

Ooooooh Wooooooh, Ooooooh Wooooooh

Give me freedom, give me fire, give me reason, take me higher
See the champions, take the field now, you define us, make us feel proud
In the streets our heads are lifting, as we lose our inhibition,
Celebration, it surround us, every nations, all around us

Singing forever young, singing songs underneath that sun
Lets rejoice in the beautiful game,
And together at the end of the day.
We all say

When I get older I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a wavin’ flag
When I get older I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a wavin’ flag
So wave your flag, now wave your flag, now wave your flag

Oooohhh, Oooooooooh wooooohh, Oooooooooh wooooohh

Give you freedom, give you fire, give you reason, take you higher
See the champions, take the field now, you define us, make us feel proud
In the streets our heads are lifting, as we lose our inhibition,
Celebration, its around us, every nations, all around us

Singing forever young, singing songs underneath that sun
Lets rejoice in the beautiful game,
And together at the end of the day.
We all say

When I get older I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a wavin’ flag
When I get older I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a wavin’ flag
So wave your flag, now wave your flag, now wave your flag
Now wave your flag (4x)

Oohhoooohh Woooh Ohohooooh Wooohoooh

We all say
When I get older I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a wavin’ flag
When I get older I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a wavin’ flag
So wave your flag, now wave your flag, now wave your flag
Now wave your flag (4x)

Oooooh woowoo ooh Wooo ooohh ooohoh

IMO waving flag is it for me. In as much as it was not intended for the world cup, the wave your flag part and the "africanity" of the song qualified it for a world cup hosted on African soil.

With Nigerian remix, canadian and american remixes. What more can one say, waving flag is it. , probably reason why coca-cola adopted it for their world cup campaign
