There is always this feeling of joy and eagerness in every Prospective Corps Members when they are preparing for service. I know that they all wish the date can be fast forward. Relax guys, NYSC will come and go. However, the most important aspect of the entire NYSC year is the 3 weeks orientation camp. This article will focus on NYSC orientation camp registration guidelines for corps members.

Generally, once you enter the camp, the registration will begin. Every corp member in camp will have to undergo 7 different stages of registration. Check them out below.

NYSC Orientation Camp Registration Guidelines


All prospective Corp members will go through these different registration stages below in camp. Take note of them now, so that you will know what to do once in camp.

#1 Entrance Gate

NYSC orientation camp registration start from the entrance gate. At this point, security personnel will ask you to show your call up letter. This is the requirement for entering into the camp.

As a rule, after presenting your letter, your luggage will be thoroughly searched. Sometimes, the security personnel may give you tag depending on the camp.

#2 Bed Space/Hostel

When you are through with the entrance gate luggage search and presentation of call up letter, you move to the next stage. The stage is allocation of Bed space/hotel. This is the stage where you will been given hostel and bed space.

During this stage, your tag number given to you at the gate will be collected. After which you will write your name and you will get a bed space.

It is advisable to locate your bed space immediately and drop your luggage by your bed. Thereafter, you will proceed to the next stage for registration proper. Go with your document and other valuable.

Note: Be careful with your valuables and money, nobody will listen to you. So, get a waist pouch to keep your money and other valuables.

#3 Document Verification

The document verification stage is an important stage for every Prospect Corps Members coming to camp. During this stage all the original copies of your credentials will be requested for.

Some of them are; Call-up letter, Statement of result, Green card, School I.D card and the Medical certificate of fitness. Also, you will need to make photocopies of your credentials.

If you fail to make photocopy at home, be ready to pay 20 naira per photo copy in the Mami market.

#4 Biometric Registration

During this stage, you will do your biometric registration. Once thumb print matches the one you did earlier before coming to camp, they will just verify your information. After which they will decide on which platoon you will belong.

Furthermore, during this stage, you will receive camp corps members registration slip, temporary I.D, certificate format, performance report form, bio data etc.

From your state codes last number, that is where you will know the platoon you belong. The number ranges from 0 to 9. 0 is platoon 10; 1 is platoon 1; 2 is platoon 2;
3 is platoon 3 etc.

#5 Locate Your Platoon

Once you know the platoon you belong to, locate your platoon officer to collect your meal ticket, NYSC kits and file.

However, you will need to present your call up letter, camp corps members registration slip, statement of result before you will be given NYSC kits and meal ticket.

#6 Bank Account Opening

During this stage, all prospective corps members will be required to open a bank account for their allowance. So, write your BVN somewhere safe, as they may request for it while opening your bank account in camp.

The account will be submitted to NYSC, that is where your monthly stipends will be paid through.

#7 First Parade

Once you are through with the first six stages above, it is advisable to go and rest. Gather your strength as you will need it.

You will hear the sound of military trumpet, mostly by 4am. By this sound, all those who are through with their registration must kit up in which and head to the parade ground
