is it not the ball that was used for the AFCON

its how Adidas TEAMGEIST was lampooned, (initaially that is)

fact is that the ball is lighter and has more swerve to it,

all in a bit to favor more spectacular goals and make more technicians of the ball ala ronaldo and drogba,

the key for keepers is to PUNCH THE BALL AWAY!!! DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CATCH BALLS AT HIGH SPEED

igbsam:

Heard the news over the radio that their's something weird about dis ball. u send it somewhere and it goes elsewhere. It has a mind of its own, hahahahahaha. Am sure the ball would be in support of the 5 african nations and score itself for us.

okay the players shoud be sending the ball to elswhere for it to go to somewhere tongue
they should stop all the yeye complaints, this is the first time a perfect round ball has been made.

Its no big deal complaining about the ball, they just have to adapt
Re: Adidas Jabulani: The Controversial World Cup Ball by slap1(m): 6:44am On Jun 17, 2010
Professional players say the ball ain't ok, internet and 'monkey post' players are here arguing what they don't know. If u watch the EPL and UEFA, u will c d sense in what they are saying.
Re: Adidas Jabulani: The Controversial World Cup Ball by thando(f): 7:52am On Jun 17, 2010
The ball is a lil sensitive and thats it, a slight tap on it will see it hover above the crossbar all the way to the stands, proffesional players should be used to this by now.

Re: Adidas Jabulani: The Controversial World Cup Ball by agitator: 8:50am On Jun 17, 2010
good for Africans then, we practice to play with orange, plastic ball, rubber balls manufactured from the rubber plantations.

That's why Enyeama use messiless messi shine grin grin grin
Re: Adidas Jabulani: The Controversial World Cup Ball by ud4u: 8:53am On Jun 17, 2010
The complain started before the world cup.
Re: Adidas Jabulani: The Controversial World Cup Ball by onyeokwuak(f): 9:25am On Jun 17, 2010
That ball is the worst ever used. I mean it is obvious that the ball is making mess of players an goal keepers. The ball moves very fast, hard to control and goes anywhere it likes.Enyeama complained about it during the nations cup when it was test runned. I wonder why players will not unanimiously agree that the ball should not be used. I mean players should have to approve it b4 use since they are the ones using them not FIFA officials

Maicon's goal for Brazil is a clear indicator that the Jabulani ball is weird. It was meant to be a pass and the Korean keeper had it well covered. Suddenly the direction changed and scored. Even Maicon was surprised grin grin grin
Re: Adidas Jabulani: The Controversial World Cup Ball by ElRazur: 10:09am On Jun 17, 2010
While there may have been complaints about the ball, it should be noted that they are in the minority. However, Germany have been using the ball from quite a while, and that may perhaps [Perhaps I said, and not a fact] means that they may have been used to the physics of the ball characteristics?

The ball is reported to be light, and not like anything players in the EPL are use to - A different ball was used here. Some Nike made ball or something.

On the other hand, England's Capello may just be moaning too about the ball because he is under pressure?
Re: Adidas Jabulani: The Controversial World Cup Ball by manmustwac(m): 10:34am On Jun 17, 2010
well brazil scored a fluke goal with it.
Re: Adidas Jabulani: The Controversial World Cup Ball by NNS83: 10:43am On Jun 17, 2010
Complaints complaints, all these supposedly "top" players always complain if its not the ball, its the pitch or vuvuzela's or according to Ronaldo "top players should be protected by referrees" ! Where does it end? Answer is you cant please everybody.

The one complaint was the ball couldnt dip and bend and that was proven wrong by Forlan's goal yesterday even the commentators said so.

Most African players started their career in the dusty streets with supermarket balls and look where they are today.

I hope you noticed that Forlan's shot took a deflection off the head of an SA defender before it dipped. The original shot was headed for the skies grin grin grin

The Jubulani is a very good ball. I am talking from the experience of playing it. It is faster than the previous world cup balls but it is also lighter which explains why it ricochets at a high velocity. The goalkeepers should get used to it and stop complaining. grin grin grin grin
Re: Adidas Jabulani: The Controversial World Cup Ball by RuuDie(m): 12:01pm On Jun 17, 2010
Its easy for everybody to say the players should adapt to the new jabulani - but is it really easy to adapt? how long will it take to adapt? i think we should cut these players some slack cuz its not really easy on 'em. . . . we all knw how horrid it looks on tv when they ballon the ball into the skies & we're not taking into consideration how bad they feel when that happens!
Re: Adidas Jabulani: The Controversial World Cup Ball by dustydee: 12:10pm On Jun 17, 2010
Have you kicked the ball before?stop complaining and let the players do thier job. After all players complain that they are fouled even when they are not.

"I think it's the best world cup ball ever. Is there ever a new ball players especially goalkeepers dont complain about?"

For your information, this is the first time football will be an issue at the world cup finals. Truth is that the ball has been changed in the past, but because the manufactures had done a good job, no one did complain. The fundamental thing here is that the Jabulani Ball is much lighter than previous balls, hence it is much more difficult to control. When a footballer meets a ball in the field of play, he does loads of computations on what to do with the ball; his brain tells him he will be kicking a ball of a specific weight - not a baloon or a large ball-bearing. Imagine being invited to a dinner and served with a large soup spoon instead of the normal table spoon to eat. These players has long adjusted to the weight and flight movement of the older balls.

Fifa themselves has acknowledged that high altitude is affecting the ball's trajectory. And one is tempted to ask; is this the first time the world cup will be played in a high altitude? Take a look at all the diagonal crosses/long passes at this world cup. Is it just a coincidence (or has most players suddenly lost form) that over 70% of the time, players cannot control them - the ball bounces and outpaces the players. Complaints about this ball began several months ago, before the commencement of the world cup. A responsible football governing body wouldn't have approved the ball for use in South Africa.

From Soccernet:

Testing the Jabulani

In the interests of scientific research, Soccernet dispatched some of our leading lights to user test the Jabulani ball on Wednesday night in their weekly five-a-side match on a local west London astroturf pitch. Here are the findings of lead producer and office athlete Jonathan Hungin.

“Straight away it felt very different to the ball we use regularly (a 2009-10 Premier League ball). It has a light, bouncy ‘inflatable’ feel to it. So much so that to begin with we weren’t sure if we needed to pump it up or let some air out … we opted to pump it to the max in the hope it might lend some weight to it.

“After giving it go for 70 minutes, I can say it was not enjoyable to use. Despite the added air it was still far too light, the almost tennis-ball like bounce made it very, very difficult to control or play a quick pass, the margin for error on your first touch was non-existent. Trying to strike a hard and accurate shot was a bit of a lottery, you had to get your head over, smash it and just hope it didn’t wobble or fly off in a random direction.

“As for the ‘keepers, it really was tough. It was fine for the diving save or block with the body but a total nightmare for the shot straight at you. At no point could you be confident of a clean catch as there was too much of a chance of it rebounding out off your chest. The safest thing to do at all times was a firm punch.”

It looks like Soccernet’s own world beaters agree with Fabio Capello on this one.

LOL@FIFA, bringing 'felele' ball to the Mundial! Haba undecided

If the foundation is destroyed, what can the righteous do? Those complaining, obviously, never played the "felele" wembly balls I played in secondary school. We have so many specialists in Naija, we call them "Oba Felele" I can organize a tutorial for them.

felele,

damn!!! you guys beat me to it,

remmeber those good old days when we play felele cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy

we should design our own ball and name it ADIDAS FELELE grin grin grin grin grin

meanyl, the jabulani ball was the cause of the 2nd greece goal against us,

the shot was a direct ball toward enyama, but the ball swerved

a low strait shot towards a goal keeper is a nightmare,

Players cant make diagonal crosses haven't you guys noticed that, if the ball should bounce it goes out of the field. Abeg nike should make the next world cup ball.

i thought i was the only one that noticed, the swerve the ball took was extremely unnatural for a low shot, the ball is just too sensitive, i mean if you play a long pass the recipient had better control it very very very well on the first touch coz once it bounces its gone

yeah right,

its just like saying Adidas-Salomon should go to the USA and start designing their basketball or their american pigskin, or their baseball,

just cant happen
