Osinbajo cannot clear the traffic. It is bigger than him. It will take years of VERY SERIOUS WORK to clear this traffic challenge. The stakeholders understand the root cause of the problem and the solution which is a very difficult and concerted efforts of the government, shipping companies, NPA, security agencies etc to solve. I don't have the strength to go into details right now.

My own is, is Apapa and Tin can ports the only ports in this country? Why must everything coming into this country only go thru these ports.

Calabar port is there nothing is wrong with the place, they lie that the river needs dredging so how did Donald Duke during his tenure make sure a cargo ship filled with vehicles and house hold items land in that port.

The politics in this country stinks to the high heavens, this country really needs restructuring asap. Let the 6 zones thrive well and let Lagos be a state as it should be and not the only revenue generating point for the west.

The only way for the port congestion to be resolved is for government to make sure all ports are utilized for shipping ever since the blockade of old eastern region during the war has all shipping been routed through Lagos.

The greedy selfish interests would want the status quo not to change, and as far as this is still the current reality this issue will still persist, any other way the govt or Osinbajo is proposing to solve the problem is simply playing to the gallery

Just my thought. The only means of accessing the port is with okada. Everywhere is blocked. Now the rains have compounded the mess. He is giving orders. Are we in military regime ...?

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has directed the commencement of a 72-hour joint operation to restore order around Apapa and environs after activities of truck drivers had caused traffic gridlock and made vehicular movement around the axis near impossible over the past few days.

Prof. Osinbajo who made an unscheduled stop at Apapa Port area on Friday for an on-the-spot assessment of the traffic gridlock, directed authorities concerned to restore sanity on the expressway, and for the Ministry Department and Agencies (MDAs) to speed up the decongestion of the port.

According to the Vice President’s directive, the operation will be carried out by a collaborative efforts of the Police, Nigeria Navy, Nigeria Army, the Nigeria Air Force, FRSC and the NSCDC, LASTMA, LASEMA, Container truck drivers, National Association of Road Transport Owners, NUPENG, Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria .

Osinbajo landed first at the Tin Can Island park, flown in by a Nigerian Navy chopper, and accompanied by the Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi and senior Naval and Police officers.
He walked close to the traffic to see the situation of things for himself and then proceeded to the Five Star Berth at the NPA where he met with relevant officials and security officers.

The plan is to within 72 hours take all the necessary and appropriate steps to restore order to the traffic situation and speed up work on the Port Decongestion.
