Wrat do catholic priests, Nuns, Bishops, etc earn?


Recently in a church the priest said they'r being paid monthly allowance of N25k..... Is that all what they get, how about dividends from tithes, offerings, donations, Harvest, & others??

Catholic elders your attention is needed ....

what do they need the money for? from free car to free house, free food every thing free. the 25k as claim claimed by post is even too much, how much is nigeria minimum wage that a catholic priest received 25k salary.

Catholic priests don't earn salaries. They rely on the parish they are posted to. The parish through offering or donations fuel their car, feed them and pay some bills if the priest is in a rented house. The tithe they collect, they also pay some to the Bishop. The Bishop might decide to be giving the priest in his diocese some pocket money because they too render help to other people and some parishioners. Most of them sponsor people in school and do some other charity work. The priest is not in charge of parish harvest money. The money realized from harvest is for the building of the church. They also give some percentage to the Bishop for the running of the diocese. Even when there is not much expenses in the main parish the help the out stations in building their church through the harvest money. Like where I worship now is an out station. We were levied 100k for the roofing of the church. The priest has paid 50k. He always assist in any donations for the building of the church. He also contribute to the building of the Mother church. If you want to pay a priest 25k is way too small because his degree is equal to a masters degree. They don't pay them salary. It's the parish that takes care of them. Maybe the Bishop of the diocese of your priest decide to give them that amount as stipends.

. Be guided. No human being that doesn't need money. Don't just criticize and say what you don't know. Not all priests live in free house and drive free car or free food. Go to typical villages where priest even provide for the parishioners. If you don't have idea about something or a topic here better don't contribute because it was not compulsory to comment on every post.

. Are you seeking the truth or you have another motive? How does giving to family becomes corruption? What of people that own churches? People give them gifts. Some give them money. There are people who give priest money every month outside their tithe. Some give them foodstuffs every month, provisions and other items. So if a priest have money and decides to help a family member it becomes corruption abi? I think you have another reason for asking this question because with your statement, I know you are not seeking the truth but rather looking for another thing.

even the Bible says a labourer deserve his wages. they receive their stipend, they get paid. some years ago the diocesan priest received about 30k from his parish, I'm not sure what they receive now.


the parish is responsible for their welfare, the religious priests, monk priests etc are the guys who actually don't get paid.

no hidden agenda-o. Wht of the nuns? Thats why i asked if they make money thru other means. How about the ones taking up professional jobs like teaching, lecturing in their schools, doctors & nurses in their hospitals??
