The Director-General of Voice of Nigeria, Mr Osita Okechukwu, has challenged former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to come clean on his United States immigration status.

Okechukwu also gave the indication that Abubakar would not be able to address insecurity in the country if, as the Nigerian President, he is unable to go to the US.

Reacting to Abubakar’s presidential declaration in Yola, Adamawa State, on Saturday, Okechukwu wondered if the Peoples Democratic Party chieftain would be able to go to the US if elected President in 2019.

The VON DG said that Abubakar’s inability to visit the US made him a less attractive option than the incumbent, President Muhammadu Buhari, who was hosted in the White House shortly after he assumed office.

Speaking to journalists in Enugu on Sunday, Okechukwu challenged Abubakar to authorise the United States Border Authority to make public his immigration status.

He said, “Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari, few weeks after the inauguration, was honoured with a red carpet reception at the White House.

“A presidential contest is like a beauty contest, and Buhari remains the best among those parading themselves to be President in 2019.”

The VON DG faulted Abubakar for declaring that more Nigerians had been killed during Buhari’s administration than the number of people that died in war-torn Iraq and Afghanistan.

Seriously it seems Nigerians love recycling

Atiku is a selfish and greedy leader

Seriously I never see him as a good leader

He never brought any dividends of democracy to his ward and local government

let buhari also reveal his health status since a presidential contest is like a beauty contest where all details should be in the public domain.

N242 billion Naira for 2019 elections. Our population is approximately 200 million. Please, we don't want election in 2019. Just share the money. N1 million to each person through our accounts and BVN and continue with your second term.
Just thinking aloud ni ooo. Who is with me ? grin

if not for your slave mentality, why didn't trump, macron, putin visit your country when they are seeking election. apart from the fact that atiku visiting us will clear the air the allegations of corruption I ask again when did it become a criteria that is a must for someone seeking the Nigeria presidency office must visit the us. besides in the previous elections why didn't all those seeking the office traveled to the us, don't let sentiment always cloud your judgement try to be objective

DG VON is being mischievous here. If Atiku become president he will have automatic diplomatic immunity to visit any Nigerian embassy abroad which is technically a Nigerian territory. Beside any immigration issue that Atiku may have with USA will summarily be pardoned for diplomacy if it is in the best interest of the US government. Remember, the UK govt once kept Dr Umaru Dikko a former Minister in the second replubic who stole million of Naira and ran way to the UK under protective custody for 10 years, when Bihari wanted to bring him back to Nigeria. So if allowing Atiku to visit US will be in the best interest of the US government. Visa or no visa the US government will certainly invite him.
