If each of the previous military and civilian regimes, that ruled Nigeria over the past 20 years had completed Ajaokuta and made it functional, you would not be recycling this flatulent bad-belle, you have against Ajaokuta. Markets can be created, in different places. Who says Warri could not have become a thriving hub for steel if both Delta Steel & Ajaokuta, were allowed to operate?

What is wrong if Ajaokuta produces steel > transports finished steel products by rail to Warri > steel products then exported from Warri seaport directly overseas? Would it be a crime? Once the Warri port is properly dredged, this can be achieved.

Or if Ajaokuta produces steel > transports by rail to Warri > evacuated by barges/boat to domestic ports in Lagos, Port-harcourt, Onne for use in local markets & factories? Would this be wrong?

Call it bad belle, I'll call it business and we'll be ok. Ajaokuta producing steel was the product of illiterate military dictators who have never been in business. The STEEL PLANT is over 40 years old now and it wasn't until the last admin that anyone thought to put rail there. If you make a product you need a way to move it to the market. Only they previous admin didn't want to move it to the market, they wanted to move it to Warri and that at best people can put the steal on a boat then try to move it to market. Forget about getting it to Kano or Abuja.


You're not going to export steel for a country that imports steel lol. Worst, you're not going to sell steal to your own 'countrymen' if it's just as easy from them to get european and chinese steel because both products still have to enter a boat and go to Lagos.

Honestly, Apart from Warri, I have no idea why those other cities have railway networks when far much more economically vibrant cities are ignored.

Nigeria, continue shooting yourselves in the foot. Continue cutting your nose to spite your face.

The primary aim is to link the two cities with the largest steel producing plants and the local iron ore mines. That is one major stumbling block that has stunted our dream of producing steel enmass. The potential job creation from steel production is in excess of 100,000.

The other smaller towns are on the path between Warri (Aladja) and Itakpe(iron ore) are beneficiaries, and if you know what is good go and take positions now in those towns as their boom is in the offing

I wanted to ask if they built a new rail line. Cos i remember during my pre-degree days at DELSU (2003) the rail lines were newly completed and i had a friend whose lodge was not too far from the railway tracks close to the river by Ajalomi (dont know if i spelt it correctly)

Where new tracks built or they renovated or started using those ones.

But we must give kudos to the present govt if they started using it though.


And you are not wondering why money was wasted and left untilized over the years. You are not angry that the benefit of that investment was abandoned while people around suffer.
You are not appalled that they left this project that will make the over $10 billion investment in Ajaokuta and another $3 billion in Aladaja start functioning, but there was money $$ billions to share to Dasuki, INEC, Diezani, Royal fathers, Prayers etc.

But many of you agreed to hate a government that has made the functioning of these investments possible, as a step towards creation of real sector jobs in thousands. And you agreed to truncate this efforts to go back to those who don't care.

Okay, you be bigoted and myopic all you want, but I must remind you that Buhari's govt HAS NOT revived the project, site inspection and an open declaration to do something does not amount to ACTUALLY doing the thing, especially when we are talking about a Buhari govt that has broken over 90% ohis campaign promises.So their intent is not good enough,let's see real work

Sit down there, a train sitting that is already running and conveying passengers, this no longer PDP era where they commission drawings, maps and intentions

putting a steel mill an Ajeokuta, which was geographically isolated for the major markets of the country (Lagos, Aba, PH, Onitsha, Enugu, Kaduna, Kano, Ibadan, Benin, (at the time) Jos, Calabar, Iilorin etc) was the first mistake among many. Then, instead of realizing this was a mistake, you build a railroad connecting Warri to this same dead place as if the DEMAND FOR STEEL exists in Warri.

AGAIN. When you build a RAILROAD, you connect PRODUCTS to MARKETS. When the colonists build the railroads they connected LAGOS and KANO, ENUGU to PORT HARCOURT. You're now connecting Ajaokuta to Warri. Why?



Why is this important: If I make a steel beam in Ajaokuta (which nobody ever will because it's a dead project), I will put it on a train, sent it to Warri. Put it on a boat, send it to Lagos, reach Lagos, drive to the destination. How much do you think Ajaokuta will have to sell this steel to make a profit?

But it's okay to ship steel product from China to be used in Kano, some people really need help

I have to put this simply. Steel mills are built near deposits. Then they are connected to markets using rail. Or you can build a rail road to the site, and put the plant where the market it as. Either way you have to FEED the supply chain, not connect one steel plant to another steel plant then connect them to Warri for no reason. Other than to say 'i built a railroad in the south-south' and other illiterate motivations

if you want to use Nigerian iron ore from Kogi at the steel plant in Aladja, Warri, how will you get the raw materials there? Roads or rail

You lack what they call economic common sense

Those cities are agricultural areas

Those cities are where most of the so called developed areas get taxes from

Know single city stands on its own , they are all Nigerians

It will also help in rural urban migration

They will also feel the sense of belonging

The list is endless

"The Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Warri rail line is passing through the following communities in Delta (Aladja, Urjevwu, Orhowhorun, Agbarho, Ovwori, Okpara Inland, Abraka and Urhonigbe), in Edo (Idumuesah, Ewossa, Agbor, Ekpon, Igbanke, Isanlu, Ekehen, Uromi, Ubiaja, Aigere, Uzanu and Agenebode) and in Kogi (Nashe, Ajaokuta Steel Complex, and Itakpe). I think the Federal Government needs to work with the LGs in these area on the site development and land-use planning for this corridor to prevent uncordinated haphazard development.

A future extension of the Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Warri line northwards by about 200km will take it through Lokoja, Abaji, Gwagwalada, Kuje up to Idu linking up with the existing Abuja-Kaduna line and the planned Kaduna-Kano line.

With the dredging of the River Niger from Bifurcation at Forcados up to Warri, it means in not too distant future, goods coming into Warri Port will find their way all the way to Lokoja, Abuja, Kaduna and Kano.

Onitsha is just about 70km east of Agbor, the design of the Second Niger Bridge has already been modified to include a rail line at the centre, this means with some additional effort, a 70km rail line will link Agbor and through the Second Niger Bridge to the main Market in Onitsha.

There is an existing unused rail bridge already between Ajaokuta and Itobe, with some effort (not up to 5km of rail), the main rail can be linked with the bridge into Kogi East (servicing nearby communities such as Idah, Ayangba, Dekina and Ankpa).

There is the Lagos-Calabar Coastal line (under project preparation) that will take off from around Shagamu along the on-going Lagos-Ibadan line, passing through Benin, Warri, Yenagoa, Port Harcourt, Aba, Uyo and Calabar.

There is the planned Kano-Maiduguri line passing Dutse, Potiskum, Damaturu and Maiduguri, which will be sequenced after the Kaduna-Kano line is completed.

There is also the Kano-Dawanau-Jibiya line passing through the Dawanau (the largest grains market in West Africa) and Jibiya to complete the LAKAJI corridor.

The government is negotiating for the contract of Port Harcourt to Maiduguri which is about 2,000 kilometres with a spur from Owerri through Nnewi and Awka and then from there to Abakiliki, while proceeding on to Gombe with a spur to Yobe, and through Yola, and then to Borno.

There is work going on. Let's just be patient!"
