MANCHESTER UNITED have approached
Barcelona about the possibility of signing Yerr
Mina.
That’s according to beIN Sports correspondent
Tancredi Palmeri. Jose Mourinho is desperate
for a new centre-back
this summer as he seeks a long-term partner
for Eric Bailly.
The Portuguese appears to have lost faith in
English duo Chris Smalling and Phil Jones,
while Marcos Rojo and Victor Lindelof have
both been linked with Old Trafford exits.
United have been linked with a number of
high- profile defenders, including Toby
Alderweireld, Raphael Varane and Harry
Maguire. But after balking at Leicester’s
stunning £75m asking price for Maguire, it
appears they’ve turned their attention to Mina.
The Colombian has been attracting a lot of
attention from European clubs following an
impressive World Cup campaign. Mina scored
three times, including a stoppage-
time equaliser against England in the last 16.
Wolves, Everton and Newcastle are among the
Premier League sides believed to be chasing
him. But United have made the first move by
approaching the La Liga side over a transfer.
Palmeri tweeted: “Manchester United have
contacted Barcelona for Yerri Mina.”
Mina only joined Barcelona from Palmeiras in
January but he has struggled to break into the
team ahead Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti.
And the 23-year-old has fallen further down
the Nou Camp pecking order following the arrival
of Clement Lenglet from Sevilla.
