Nigeria’s Oto “Joe Boy” Joseph, on Sunday night, retained his African Boxing Union (ABU) lightweight title by defeating Ghana’s Nathaniel Nukpe.

The encounter was the headline bout at GOtv Boxing Night 15, which held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan.

Also on the night, Ridwan “Scorpion” Oyekola, a product of GOtv Boxing NextGen Search, won N1million for emerging the best boxer of the night. Oyekola, who was voted second best boxer at GOtv Boxing Night 13 last December, defeated Prince “Lion” Nwoye in a thrilling lightweight challenge bout.

He was wildly cheered by the capacity crowd.

Another GOtv NextGen Search graduate, Michael “Lion Heart” Godwin knocked out Idowu “ID Cabasa” Okusote in a cruiserweight contest. Ibadan’s cult boxing hero, Akeem “Dodo” Sadiku, knocked out Franc Houanevgbe of the Republic of Benin in a middleweight duel.

Olaide “Fijaborn” Fijabi, ABU light welterweight champion, defeated Kazeem “Iberu” Ariyo in a national challenge contest.

Daniel “Big Shark” Emeka defeated Sulaimon “Olags” Adeosun in the light heavyweight division. The light welterweight duel between Vincent “Dada” Essien and Segun “Show Boy” Olalehin was declared a no-contest.

Among dignitaries at the event were the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III; Mr. Wale Oke,Oyo State Sports Commissioner who represented Governor Abiola Ajimobi; and Mr. Toys Arulogun, Oyo State Information Commissioner.

The guy oyekola fought was robbed. Oyekola has very amateurish boxing skills, the other guy clearly out pointed him in that fight. The judges in that fight were quacks that don't know anything about professional boxing

I started lossing interest in the show when they robbed a world class boxer that fights like manny paquio his last two fights..
The boyz name is lion he beats his opponent silly after which they rob him.
It is like his managers ad promoters have somtin against him they clearly want to spoil the world class boxers record but his God will shame dem.

At first the guy beat one rilwan a strong fighter they robbed him of the fight.

He beat dia champion otto joe boy neatly dey robbed him.

Now he beat his last opponent dey robbed him.

God bless yu for saying the truth..That lion of a guy is a warrior he is the only world class boxer dia...He is the reason i watch the show.A complete boxer full of energy,technique,skills,confidence ad stamina.

GOtv should find honest promoters ad neutral judges from other countries that will judge fights honestly,ad promoters that will protest against any injustice if they see one,not career killers.

why rob someone of his hard earned victory becos yu dont like him..If dis rubbish dont stop pipu will know is arrange fight dey organize ad wont take dem serious like me.

Mtheeew!Lion won that fight..Its like some top shots influenced the judges decision to favour his opponent..I forsee lion wining a world title if properly managed.

That guy is small but mighty..The two knockout of the night came from emeka against his opponent and one lion heart.
