A prominent leader of the Pan Yoruba group, Afenifere, Chief Kole Omololu has escaped attempts by people suspected to be herdsmen to kidnap and possibly kill him. Chief Omololu was saved by a team of soldiers manning the highway who promptly responded to distress detour by the Afenifere chieftain.
The incidence took place on Ore-Sagamu road near Akinfosile junction at about 7am this morning. According to him, the heavily armed herdsmen accosted him violently but he had to quickly make a detour back to a soldiers’ roadblock mounted at Omotosho area of the highway.
He said he identified the attackers to be armed herdsmen and that he would have been kidnapped save his instinct that urged him to turn back immediately before he was encircled by the gang.
Speaking on the incidence, a member of Apapo Oodua Koya, (AOKOYA), Chief Oluwole Sanusi of Sagamu said the entire forest in the Sagamu-Ore area have been occupied by armed Fulani herdsmen saying that an average of five attacks on road users occur in the area every week.
