I was employed by XYZ Nig. Ltd precisely January 2016 as part of Management staff (amidst 3 others) to kick start the Operation of the firm. As a result of logistic issues, it took about 8 months before commencement of full operation. During this waiting period, I used to go to office almost every day to supervise workers working on the preparation of the building, sourcing for competent hands to employ and other activities at the instance of my direct boss.
It is important to state here that we were not being paid full salary during this period based on understanding that all outstanding salary will be settled when full operation commences.
Fast forward to when we start full operation, the boss started misbehaving by indulging in some fraudulent practices which was not in consonance with my own upbringing and professional ethics. Unfortunately, all these transactions cannot scale through without my input because I occupied a strategic position in the organization. I decided to block those transactions except a particular one where he used the name of the Chairman to perpetrate. Unfortunately, the Chairman was not in the country and the only means of communication was E-mail. I E-mailed him to confirm the authenticity of the transaction which the response was negative.
To my surprise, the Chairman did not take any serious action against the boss. This resulted in serious hostility from the boss who only needs to wait for a period of about 2 months to transfer me out of the Head office to a remote village where I practically have no job function, just to render me redundant and he employed another person to replace me immediately. I protested this and lodged my complaint to the Chairman and nothing serious was done to prevent this satanic transfer of mine.
At this point, I need nobody to tell me that I’m no longer welcomed; I made up my mind and took part of honour. I resigned my appointment effective immediately, this action of mine caught him unaware and the next plot of him was to audit the company and find anything to implicate me. Unfortunately, nothing was found and all attempts to get me framed up proved abortive.
The next thing for him was to start blackmailing me all around, I would have taken him up legally but couldn’t do so because I don’t have concrete evidence to use against him, and people I could use as witness against him are still working with the organization and are not ready to leave as at then.
As I was leaving, I calculated my outstanding salary arrears and ask him to remit same into my bank account which he didn’t deny.
After about a month after my resignation and my arrears was yet to be settled, I call the chairman to find out why, he later promised that he will personally pay me in six equal installments on monthly basis. I have evidence for this, though unknowingly to him. He paid first 2 installments after several phone calls and visitations. I later discovered that he didn’t want to pay the balance again for reason best known to only him as he has not been picking my calls for over two months now. I have resolved to take him up legally but my constraint is that this will definitely take time and money which I’m not ready to sacrifice now.
My second option that I’m ruminating about is the fact that I have implicating evidences of the boss’ fraudulent dealings after I left the organization which if I release to the appropriate body, will cost the establishment her operating license, closure of the establishment and prosecution. He may even be jailed.
I need your kind advise before I take wrong action please.
