ZANU-PF WINS MOST SEATS IN ZIMBABWE PARLIAMENT – ZEC
Zimbabwe’s ruling ZANU-PF party won the most seats in parliament, official results showed Wednesday, as the count continued in the presidential race and the opposition MDC cried foul, alleging widespread fraud.

EU observers are due to give their preliminary report on Zimbabwe’s election later Wednesday, two days after the vote — the first ballot since Robert Mugabe was ousted after 37 years in power.

With elections under Mugabe marred by fraud and often deadly violence, his successor President Emmerson Mnangagwa, 75, promised a free and fair vote and invited international observers.

AS SARAKI DEFECTS TO PDP, KWARA PDP CHAIRMAN LEAVES FOR APC
The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara state, Iyiola Oyedepo, insisting he can never work with Senate president Bukola Saraki, on Wednesday announced his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Oyedepo made this known in a live telephone radio program in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, TVC news reports.
He disclosed that he is currently in Abuja to tender his resignation letter at the national secretariat of PDP.
“Darkness and light can never work together and I can never work with Saraki. I will rather pitch my tent with the APC instead of working with Saraki in PDP,” Oyedepo said.

MUGABE VOTES IN FIRST ZIMBABWE ELECTION SINCE HIS OUSTER
Former Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe on Monday cast his ballot in the country’s first election since he was ousted by the military in November after ruling for 37 years.

Mugabe, 94, made no comment as he walked unaided into the polling station at a primary school in the Highfield district of Harare, accompanied by his wife Grace.

Mugabe was forced to resign when ruling ZANU-PF lawmaker threatened to impeach him after military generals launched a brief takeover to install their favoured candidate, Emmerson Mnangagwa.

BENUE: BUHARI WILL NEVER BE PART OF UNCONSTITUTIONAL ACT – PRESIDENCY
The Presidency has condemned attempts in some quarters to drag the name of President Muhammadu Buhari into the on-going political saga in Benue State House of Assembly.

Mr Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday, dissociated the president from the developments.

Adesina described as paranoia the statements issued by different interest groups, insinuating that the president might have a hand in the developments.
