Vaginal cramps also known as spasms are mild to painful muscle contraction.Pregnancy complications  can also cause pain. Pains that occur outside menstration can be a sign of underlying medical issue. Causes of vaginal cramps varies from infection to problem with reproductive organs.

Causes of Vaginal cramp
Urinary tract infection (UTI)
UTI is one of the major cause of vaginal cramp. These occur when bacteria multiply in and infect your urinary tract — including your urethra, bladder, ureters, or kidneys.

UTIs are much more common in women than in men. Between 40 to 60 percent of women will get a UTI at some point in their lifetime.

With a UTI, the pain is commonly centered in the middle of the pelvis and near the pubic area.

Some of the symptoms includes,

burning sensation when you urinating,
cloudy or smelly urine,
red or pink urine,
an urgent need to urinate.
Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
When an infection in the pelvic organs causes inflammation in the vaginal tissue. Having an STI such as gonorrhea or chlamydia leads to PID.

Common symptoms are :-

pain in the lower abdomen
bleeding between pain periods
 Pain during sex
unusual discharge from the vagina
vaginal cramp
fever
chills
nausea
Dysmenorrhea
Dysmenorrhea is pain that occurs during your menstrual periods. pains  from dysmenorrhea usually starts one or two days before your period, or when you begin to bleed.

Symproms are :-

Pain in your lower abdomen
Fatigue
Vomiting
Nausea
Dyspareunia
Dyspareunia means painful sex. This pain may occur during or immediately after sex.

Multiple causes of dyspareunia exist, including infections, inflammation, and surgery on the vagina or uterus

Some people also experience dyspareunia when they use tampons.

Dyspareunia typically feels like menstrual cramps with the addition of a deep, burning pain inside the pelvis.

Vaginitis
Vaginitis is inflammation of the vagina commonly caused by bacteria, yeast, or parasites.

Both yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis are very common. About 75 percent of women will get at least one yeast infection in their lifetime.

symptoms include:

Painful sex
Pain when you urinate
vaginal irritation
white, greenish-yellow, or frothy discharge from the vagina
a foul-smelling discharge that may have a fishy odor
cottage cheese whitish discharge
vaginal itching
spotting
