The Ijaw people can be found in Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta, Ondo and parts of Edo states of Nigeria, and they are one of the largest ethnic groups in Nigeria.

Sometimes they are referred to as " Water People" because of their day to day interaction with water thereby making all their myths and legends water-based.

They share similar values with the Urhobo, Isoko and Itshekiri people and their love for dazzling colours defines their fashion sense.
