IMO I don't think that will save one from "Nigeria fuel pump" plague, I practised all except the additive part, I see additives as snake oil, especially for regular old pre-2010 Toyota & Honda cars we drive in Nigeria grin
The picture was taken sometime in 2018, the car was 4 years in Nigeria.. I went against the popular opinion by replacing only the fuel pump, stainer was not clogged

Sidenote: This thread was on cartalk front page grin grin

but I am presently going through a 2013 thread grin grin

Just finished this:

uh huh about sidenote grin

Additives do work tho. Biggest factor is never go below 1/4 and never buy just after supply.

Now I have seen Fuelpumps for vehicle Bought brand new in nigeria, used for about 2years and less then 30,000kms in this state.

these are the remains of cannibalised used foreign used fuel pumps from different vehicles, Notice their colours?

Fuelpump used in saner climates for 10-20years coming in and looking this good without any human interference.

summary, If you like buy a brand new car or a Foreign used car, as long as you live in nigeria and our system continues to buy horribly refined petroleum products, just set aside a little extra money for a fuel pump every few years.

I would love to see more responses:
