The YouTube Signature Device program is a recently Launched program by YouTube. The whole Idea behind the program is that YouTube will certify some devices as best for video playback if they meet certain requirements like the ability to watch 360-degree videos, support for HDR, high frame rate, 4K decoding, and reliable DRM performance. At the moment there are only 19 certified YouTube signature devices of course Including the Samsung galaxy note 9 which was just launched yesterday.


While Samsung has 6 devices listed on the program, Sadly for IOS lovers there is none listed on the YouTube program even though some pro IOS users claim that the iPhone X meets and even surpasses most the requirements listed by YouTube with the exception of not being able to support VP9 codec which makes it impossible to watch 4K videos on safari, that not withstanding is not an issue since the IOS comes with a YouTube app where most users stream their YouTube videos.


For now we cannot say for certain if this would affect the decision making of consumers when planning on purchasing a new mobile device but it is worthy of a mention.
