THE National Examination Council (NECO), on Monday, lifted the suspension on the ongoing Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination in Edo State sequel to the decision of the state government to comply with the regulations of the examination body. NECO had, on Sunday, slammed a suspension of the state from further participation in the ongoing nationwide examination as a result of the refusal of the state government to allow the men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other examination monitors from entering examination halls, but were ordered to remain at school gates. The chairman, Governing Board of NECO, Mallam Yero Bello, while addressing newsmen, on Monday, in Abuja on the decision to lift the suspension said: “This is consequent upon the state government, as contained in their circular of Monday, 21st June, 2010, to abide by NECO regulations that officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other NECO monitoring officers be allowed into the examination halls in the conduct of the ongoing June/July 2010 SSCE. “The examinations in the state shall continue with effect from today (Monday), while necessary arrangements would be put in place for the candidates to write the papers they missed as a result of the suspension at a later date.” http://www.tribune.com.ng/index.php/news/7171-ssce-neco-lifts-suspension-on-edo-state |
