Today’s passage tells you how to get your faith working. The word ‘effectual’ means working productively. An effectual drug is one that does the job. Your faith is not supposed to do what your eye is to do. Your faith is a tool that God gave you to do what your eyes cannot do and if your faith is to be effectual, you must pay attention to the study in this chapter.

It is possible to have faith that is not effectual, just like you can have eyes that are not effectual. Your faith was given to you to receive everything that God has for you. If you are looking for healing, you can decide to get it by your faith because God has provided healing or go for medicine. Going for healing by your faith will be different from going for your healing by medicine. This difference is what many people are confused about, but there is no need for confusion because faith and medicine are not in opposition.

In reality, medicine helps you to know what ‘mountain’ you want to move and cast into the sea. Another picture God gave me is that faith and medicine are like two vehicles taking you to the destination of healing. In severe medical conditions where medical experts give up and say there is nothing that can be done about a case, it is as if both vehicles reach a river bank and medicine cannot walk on water. At that point, faith takes over and carries you through. The highest offer of God is divine health where you never get sick, but while you are sick you may start from the basic level of believing for healing with the drugs but without the side effects.

PRAYER: Lord, I receive my healing and cure according to your word in Jesus’ name.
