Action Against Hunger | ACF-International works to save lives by combating hunger and diseases that threaten the lives of vulnerable communities, through nutrition, food security, water and sanitation, health and advocacy. We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Media and Communications Officer Location: Abuja, FCT, Nigeria Job type: Full Time Job Summary The position is based in Abuja, FCT and reports directly to the Senior Advocacy and Protection Advisor. The Media and Communication Officer is required to provide support to the formulation and implementation of the organization's communication programs in liaison with stakeholders, partners, media and the communities to ensure effective communication. Tasks and Responsibilities Develop media and communication plan, tools and materials to increase awareness on AAH programming to various stakeholders. Maintain and organize communication data and materials. Documentation of lessons learnt from the various programme interventions by consolidating regular updates, reports, case studies, briefs and wide range of IEC materials. Promote advocacy efforts by developing advocacy messages, materials, tools as well as multimedia content. Collect evidence based information and testimonies that AAH can use to inform programming and advocacy. Liaise with media outlets to package information and ensure external visibility with appropriate information and messages targeting a wider audience, including preparation of talking points, media briefs and press releases. Document and share good practice from planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of program activities at the local community and state levels. Perform additional activities as requested by the Senior Advocacy and Protection Advisor, and other members of the coordination team. Liaise with media outlets to ensure external visibility with appropriate information and messages targeting a wider audience, including preparation of talking points, media briefs and press releases. Position Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications & Journalism, Media Studies, relevant discipline. At least 1- 2 years of relevant experience in journalism, media relations or communications. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills. Good photography and videography skills. Intermediate knowledge of video and photo editing softwares. Microsoft Office Skills (Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word) and graphic designing Experience in designing and leading media campaign or communication strategies. Previous experience in the humanitarian or development context Familiar with Northeast Nigeria context. Fluency in Hausa or Kanuri (written and spoken) will be an asset. Experience in handling of web-based management systems.
