1.0 No desire to control games: You would expect a team in the class of Manchester united to dictate the pace and control the tempo of the game but they hardly do..Average sides so many times take the game to them thereby forcing them to make mistakes; exactly what they ( Man utd) should be doing. You can't do much playing on the back foot
Slow build up: Manchester united take too many unnecessary passes going forward. Jones passes to Bailly, Bailly passes to Young, Young sends it back to De gea. When they're through with the cycle of unnecessary passes, their opponents would have taken their defensive shape, thereby making them almost in permeable. How do you breakdown an opponent with many slow, non intricate passes?
They play too deep: If should come as a surprise that the heat map of our wingers is closer to their half instead of their opponents. How will you hurt your opponents from almost 50 yards. Manchester united wingers occupy positions that are too far from the goal. You can barely hurt your opponent(s) from such distance
De gea: I know De gea does no wrong in the eyes of an average football fan but this isn't exactly truth. His frequent hopeless punts makes the team chase the ball far too often. Manchester united will control the game better if their goalie plays from the back. His distribution isn't particularly pleasing, he almost always either kicks the ball straight to his opponent(s) or gives his teammate a poor pass that he'll be crowded by opposing team and the ball subsequently won. In contrast, Ederson's distribution is top notch, he assisted Aguero in the Carling cup final against Arsenal and did same today. Imagine De gea doing same
Inconsistent Lineup: Very few teams have had a more frequently changed lineup than Manchester united, there's so much chopping and changing, this makes understanding amongst players difficult.
