Man Expresses Disappointment With Buhari, APC, Begins Trek From Lagos To Abuja by Racoon(m): 8:07am On Aug 24, 2018
A man, Isa Mohammed Munlaila, on Thursday, commenced a road journey, on foot, from Lagos to Abuja, saying he resolved to embark on the journey to express his displeasure against the 2019 presidential ambition of President Muhammadu Buhari and the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) for failed promises.

Munlaila, who spoke with newsmen in Lagos, said Nigerian youths were angry with Buhari for failing the nation after three years at the helm of affairs, lamenting that people were suffering as the standard of living had gone up under the government led by him despite the promises made to them.

The 28-year-old Munlaila, who hails from Borno State, had claimed to have walked from Lagos to Lokoja in 2015 in support of Buhari and the Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, saying that the new journey would take him between 18 and 20 days to do.

“I trekked during the victory in 2015, we all trekked to celebrate the victory, because there was a change in the government and we thought we got change,” he recalled.

The protester, who commenced the Lagos-Abuja from the popular Otedola Bridge in Lagos, bearing a mini-coffin on his head with Nigeria’s colour: Green- White- Green, with the inscription, “R.I.P APC,” maintained that his trek to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) was to record his disappointment that the major promises of the ruling APC to create jobs, among others had not been fulfilled.

This was just as he equally maintained that his action was not politically motivated as he was yet to make up his mind on which political party to pitch tents with, come 2019, adding that he was not sponsored by anybody or group to embark on the trek.

“Actually, I want to show my disappointment for this APC. As you can see, the youth of this country are very angry. APC promised us heaven on earth. They promised that fuel will be N45 Naira per litre but it’s now N145 Naira; they promised to create three million jobs in one year but they have not been able to create even 500,000 jobs in three years, while the dollar to naira rate has continued to affect businesses,” he lamented.

“Nobody motivated me. I have my money and I use my money to do what I want to do. I am just representing the youths of this country,” he said.

He, however, said that the Lagos-Abuja trek would be used to appreciate some of the leaders who were concerned with the youths of the country.
