The acceleration is not greater. In fact they are different quantities. m/s for speed and m/s square for acceleration.

50mph => 22.352m/s
62mph => 27.7165m/s

62mph in 6 secs => 27.7165m/s / 6s = 4.62m/s square

Don't confuse yourself.
The car has max speed of 50mph.
The same car takes 6secs to reach 62mph.
That is contradiction & incorrect - simple.

I think you should seek better understanding of the subject. Its no contradiction. You would know that 0 - 60 in Bleep secs is a common way of describing cars acceleration if familiar with cars. I just broke down the physics to clarify it better but if you refuse to understand I cant help you.

50 is the actual speed attainable with car in motion whereas the 62 is the rev of the engine not motion of the car

Simple physics. Speed = force x distance while acceleration = 1/2mv2. While force = mass x acceleration, velocity = speed/time. If you know you know.

As you push the accelerating pedal, you can get 62mph but the distance you can cover with time will average 50mph.

I really do not think it's a contradiction.

Rather, I think it says that the rate at which the engine revs It can attain 62mph in 6secs, but there is a limitation of a 50mph capacity on the car. This would mean that it would even reach 50mph in less than 6secs.

acceleration can be higher than max speed.
Max speed is more a function of horse-power, while acceleration is more dependent on torque(Rate of change of Force(~F/T)).
