Governor Obiano presents 1 million naira each to the six World Technovation Champions from Anambra State.

Anambra State Government today presented cheques for one million naira each to the six students of Regina Paecis that won the World Technovation Challenge held recently in San Francisco, USA.

At a reception held at the governor's lodge, Amawbia, Governor Willie Obiano also presented cheques for two million naira each to the Principal of the school and the mentor of the Students.
Also during the ceremony which was used to mark the 27th Anniversary of the creation of Anambra State, the governor also announced scholarships for the students uptil their first University degrees.

Present to witness the ceremony were the parents and teachers of the students, members of the National and State Assemblies, State government functionaries, Ndigwe among many others.

Nice gesture from the governor

But if I may ask, what will young girls like this do with huge sum of amount like this?

It will only distract them from facing their studies with the hope and expectation that they already have some millions to lean on if at all they later fail in life

No matter how exceptional a student is in the US, the highest thing the government can still give to them is to include their names on the significant pages of the school history and back it up with scholarship

Educational institutions ain't no charity organization

So we don't give out money but appreciations and good recommendations

The government should please revoke those monetary presentations ASAP and leave the girls stranded in peace and in the spirit of good performance and academic excellence
