A dismissed police corporal, Michael Eriarebhe, was Monday paraded for armed robbery by the Edo State Police Command.

Eriarebhe who hailed from Igueben local government area if the State, was among 20 suspects who were arrested and paraded for various criminal offences ranging from armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism and others.

He was said to have been dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force for offences against discipline and was subsequently charged to court, but was granted bail.

Eriarebhe was said to have had canal knowledge of an underaged secondary school girl and made her pregnant.

The State Police Commissioner, Mr. Babatunde Kokumo who paraded the suspect, said following his release on bail from his previous offence, Eriarebhe was caught robbing his victim at gun point.

The suspect however denied the allegation leveled against him, saying that he merely begged the man for money and he volunterilly have him N5,000.

He also denied the allegation that he defiled an underaged girl, saying that the girl was a 17-year old who’s consent he obtained before having sex with her and she had a baby for him.

“There is pendency of a criminal charge against the ex-cpl in court. He is in court bail and like a leopard that can never change its spots, was arrested for another criminal activity. This is a vindication that the police was right in the first place to have earlier dismissed him,” Kokumo said.

Also paraded was one Ese Aibaingbe, who was arrested for allegedly threatened to shoot his wife with his dane gun.

Aibaingbe while speaking to journalisits, confessed to the ownership of the gun, saying that the gun was for his personal protection.

The CP, Mr. Kokumo, said all the suspects will be charged to court after thorough investigations are completed.

why do Nigerian police handcuff criminal with there hands in front. Why not handcuff the hand at his back...

An experience person can easily kill you with his hands cuffed in front of him. wait self do they even use plastic handcuff. Abi na only ironcuff we dey use ni.. nawa oo

Plastic cuff are very cheap less than a $1 that less e no pass 200 naira for 1. We need educated and exposed people to take NPF to another level.

Whether formal police or present police. In Fatz voice "Na their work oh". I believe he was been arrested because he was no longer a policeman. To me he has been doing what he was arrested for officially since like his colleague presently in the force. Black na black. Whether black uniform or black shirt. Same work.

People should not be surprised seeing a dismissed police officer caught for robbery because that is their next pot of call after dismissal. Any officer dismissed from the force, must form his own robbery squard. They are the ones spoilling the good image of the police. Most of these low class officers in the SARS squard are the ones that are still messing up the system. They should be retrained and make the minimum requirement for SARS to be at least HND. The Federal government should pay them well. Go to where these officers stay, you pity them.
