Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has apologised after being sent off in the 2-0 win at Burnley.

Rashford started the match on the bench again as United seeked to turn around back-to-back defeats in the Premier League.

But Jose Mourinho brought him on in the 61st minute at Turf Moor as he replaced Alexis Sanchez who was already booked.

Rashford didn't last long on the pitch, as he was shown a red card by referee Jon Moss 10 minutes later.

The England international had clashed with Phil Bardsley and shunted his head towards the Burnley defender, who started his own career at Manchester United.

Marcus Rashford’s seeming headbutt was deemed to be violent conduct and he is now set for a three-match ban.

Breaking his silence on the incident on Sunday evening, the 20-year-old sent a message to United and their supporters.

"Emotions got the better of me, I shouldn’t of reacted like that," Rashford wrote on Twitter.

"Sorry to everyone at the club and all the fans."

Bardsley received a yellow card for his part in the coming-together with Rashford.
