I'm fed up with this "Nigerian girls are dumb" mantra some people (guys especially) chant all over cyber space. So I'm here to address this issue.

As we all know, many Nigerian men are threatened by successful women. Same goes for intelligent and outspoken women.
They might admire her from afar but they don't want their women to be so smart(Why do you think the word feminism makes them pee in their pants?).

Sadly, we are in a society that makes women see marriage as the ultimate achievement. This is the reason why many girls in Nigeria play dumb with their men. This is with particular emphasis on the "play dumb". They don't want to be seen as a threat. They don't want to be seen as proud. That's why.

So next time, before you refer to the girls you are dating or have dated as dumb, stop to consider that you might in fact, be the dumb one and she's just "playing dumb" to make you feel intelligent(they say it's massaging their egos).
