The overall expectation in the hearts of electorate when considering who to vote into any elective office is usually ‘Performance’.

This is obviously for the fact that Governments are usually put in place to make livelihood better for the people through the creation of enabling environment for budding ideas and the delivery of critical infrastructure to enhance both private and public productive initiatives.

While canvassing for votes before the 2015 elections, Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa made a promise of ‘Prosperity for Deltans’.

All through his campaign visits and town hall meetings, it was not lost on him; as such, everyone looked forward to his assumption of office, especially having known his antecedence for service delivery as a politician.

The assurance of delivery was greatly applauded due to the fact that based on Sen. Okowa’s history of political leadership, he has actually been known for performance and achievement.

Also, for the fact that he had been around the political scene and a known grassroot mobiliser, it was generally agreed that he understands the wishes of the people and would attend to them accordingly.

In his first few days of assumption of office, as an apparent response to the promises and expectations from the people, he rolled out the SMART Agenda which was his vision for the State. The vision was geared towards recreating a new delta that would boast of technically skilled personnel in all sectors and establishing young and budding entrepreneurs.

It was also aimed at setting up well structured education and health systems, revamping agrobased initiatives to productive ventures, training and empowering of farmers, massive road infrastructure among others.

True to his words, the executive Governor of Delta State has not lost sight of the promises he made while canvassing for votes.

He had clinically demonstrated that he was not making mere political rhetorics that would eventually be jettisoned on assumption of office nor was his ambition hurriedly thought out without a direction.

The giant strides in terms of infrastructural development by the Asaba Capital City Development Agency, the upgrading of Asaba Airport, the construction of the stadium edifice, the ongoing storm water project in Asaba to curb perennial flooding, the ongoing secretariat building, all these projects running into billions of naira are testimonies of a man on a mission.

His administration’s health initiative, from which he received award from the federal government recently, as the number one state in contributory health care in Nigeria, is a feat.

In education, not only has he built and refurbished some ailing schools, he had giving necessary consideration to revamping technical schools across the state in line with global standards. A Teacher Development Centre, for continuous retraining of teachers is being built.

The whole activity of the Job Creation Office, where young entrepreneurs are being raised through training in diverse skills and consequent empowerment with starter packs on completion of training, remains a model for the entire country. This initiative has received huge commendations and partnership with the World Bank.

Electorate across the state and diaspora, especially the objective ones who reason beyond party affiliations, are in agreement that Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has lived up to expectation. In unison, his administration’s initiatives in all sectors of development have been commended.

In his last town hall visits to LGAs, the reception and worthy interaction with the people, on his administration’s strides so far and promises to deliver on some of their concerns are testimonies of acceptance for continuity.

Gov. Okowa is on Course and Deltans are with Him!!!

Apc is busy taking over Delta while Horse teeth continues to regale in his ineptitude. Delta has never had it so bad and slow. Okowa is thieving sitting duck.

Honestly, Mr Okowa needs to bugle up within these few months to election because the grassroot in Delta state is totally cut off from his administration.

Let's be serious and truthful to ourselves, only very few Governors in Nigeria deserves a second chance, others are just a bunch of delusional, directional, ineffective, inefficient and incompetent fellows whose eyes stick so wide to monthly federal allocation.

Its high time the masses started holding their respective state governors responsible cos they have gotten enough.
