Tottenham forward Lucas Moura has been announced as the Premier League Player Of The Month for August.



Lucas has been in great form for Tottenham this season and made the absence of striker Son Heung-Min unfelt at the club.

Lucas started all three Premier League matches for Tottenham in August - scored his first Premier League goal in the 3-1 win over Fulham before scoring a brace against Manchester United.

'It is difficult to explain what I am feeling,' Lucas told PremierLeague.Com after the 26-year-old was given his prize at Tottenham's training ground.

'I am so happy because I know it is not easy to win this trophy.

'I waited a lot for this moment and I need to enjoy and to keep working because I believe I have much more that will come.'

He also delivered a video message via Tottenham's official Twitter account.

In it he said: 'Hi everyone. I am so happy to be the Player of the Month.

'I want to say thank you to the fans and to share it with my team-mates, my club and also my family.

'And it's only the beginning - I want to do a lot more for this amazing club.'



Lucas won the award ahead of a host of top stars such as Chelsea left back Marcos Alonso and Liverpool star Sadio Mane, while Neil Etheridge, Benjamin Mendy, Roberto Pereyra and Virgil van Dijk also made the shortlist.
