You can’t use human methods to accomplish divine assignments. I will show you this truth from the life and journey of Moses. Divine assignments require divine instructions to get them done and your life is a divine assignment. As long as you keep thinking that your life is a human project, you will be hijacking the journey from God and you will be making it more difficult. Even Moses himself at a time in his life wanted to achieve God’s dream in his own way because his mother taught him well. He knew he was a different child with a purpose and assignment behind his life. He had been trained in the best of Egyptian education and culture. His mother was the one that put things in his heart.


You must know that on this journey you will meet some people that will put clothes on your back; some people will put money in your pocket. Your parents will put clothes on your back; your teachers will put information in your mind. A boss will put money in your pocket, but a destiny father will put the values for your destiny in your heart. That was what Moses’ mother did for him and taught him: “You are not an Egyptian, you are a Jew and a Jew does not tolerate injustice.”

He tried to do by human force what God planned to do by divine strategy and that added 40 years to the journey. It took 40 years to make Moses right because if he had led Israel out of Egypt in that first condition, he would have led them militarily, not prophetically or pastorally.


PRAYER:
Lord, I open up to your moulding and shaping hand; show me the divine strategy to fulfilling the assignments in my hands in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Just like Apostle Paul could have ended in his alternative destiny without discovering the real purpose behind his creation, Moses also would have ended in his alternative destiny.

Moses refused to be called the son of the daughter of Pharaoh although that would have given him a right to the throne, but he chose to suffer affliction with the people of God. Why? It was because he esteemed the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt. Those were the words that showed how *his hidden destiny was firing his passion and decision-making process.* That was the same thing with Paul when he said, _“And I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries in my own nation… (Gal.1:14).”_ *The reality of alternative destiny is one of the things that believers must fight against.* Whether we pick different individuals in the Bible to analyse their journey or even look in our own lives today, *the reality of possible alternative destinies is a potent risk which we need to guard against if we will fulfil our destinies.*

*What is manifesting in some people’s lives is the alternative destiny.* If we saw Paul as the next in line to be the chief Pharisee, we might have thought that it was a great achievement but it wasn’t because it would have been an alternative destiny. He could have lived and died as a chief persecutor of the Church and the Jews would have praised him and celebrated him, but God would have mourned him that he missed the purpose for which he was sent to the earth. Thank God that Paul found mercy and got it right eventually.

*PRAYER:* Lord, I separate myself from every wrong passion and desire that can lead me into an alternative destiny in Jesus’ name. Amen!

An assignment is what God actually raised you to do. It is what God is funding in your life and what God is empowering you to do. That is why He gave you the platform you have.

I want you to critically follow this now. Ministry is what you are doing that is directly or indirectly contributing to what God is doing in your generation. If it is not directly or indirectly contributing to what God is doing, it is not ministry. It can be something good and nice, but it must have something to do with what God is doing because that’s what makes it a Christian ministry and Christians must be well taught to understand this.

Sometimes because of our carelessness and laziness as God’s people, we have allowed unbelievers do things that are nice and these make them look nice to the world. Christians sit down in the Church and the only thing being done is going out for evangelism while unbelievers set up orphanages and NGOs. So, people assume that we don’t know how to do anything practical.

Joseph of Arimathea was a wealthy man and the Bible says he was one of the hidden disciples of Jesus Christ (Luke 23:50-51). What brought his name into the history book of God which is the Bible was that he requested the body of Jesus and gave Him his tomb for His funeral. At the time that Jesus’ body was hanging on the tree, all the Apostles had run away.

PRAYER: Lord, I receive the spirit of wisdom and understanding to give my calling expression at whatever platform I am functioning in life, in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Look at the woman with the alabaster box of ointment in Mark 14:3-9. That woman was a notorious prostitute in the town that Jesus visited, and she came with an alabaster box, a one-year salary worth of ointment, and broke it on Jesus. The Bible says the ointment and its smell filled the whole room. And Judas said, “Why this waste of perfume? This thing could have been sold and given to the poor.” Now, that’s a religious spirit.

Judas said that because he was the one that held the purse and he had been stealing from the money. It would have increased the money that he would have stolen but Jesus said, “What this woman has done will be spoken of everywhere this Gospel is preached (like you are reading it now) in honour of that woman for she has come beforehand to come and prepare my body for burial.” That was what God put that thing in her hand for and she did it. She was not the only prostitute in town or the only one with an alabaster box of ointment in her day.

You must understand the difference between your assignment and your job. It is possible for God to give you three major assignments. When a man of God was called, God gave him three assignments: to take the healing power to his generation; to build a university for Him; and a third mandate. He preached thousands of sermons but those are the three major things. He could preach all the sermons in the world and refuse to build that university. The assignment is what God is supporting and giving you life for and protecting you over; and you must do that for Him.

PRAYER: Lord, show me the primary assignment(s) that I am to fulfil in life and I receive grace to fill the circle of my destiny in Jesus’ name. Amen!

You must understand the difference between your platform and why God gave you that platform. God doesn’t mind what you do with and enjoy in that platform.

Mary was given the assignment to carry the Messiah in her womb. In order to do that she had to remain a virgin. Even though she was engaged to marry, she was not to allow her husband to touch her until baby Jesus was delivered. Those were the unspoken instructions because the specification of her destiny was “The virgin shall conceive (Isa. 7:14)”. That was an assignment and Mary allowed it. After she gave birth to Jesus, she had other children. Some people want you to believe that Mary didn’t have other children, but Mary had other children after she did her assignment (Mat. 13:55).

Hannah was to give God a prophet to cross the nation of Israel from the patriarchy to the monarchy and she did that. She gave the son to God and God gave her five other children (1 Sam. 2:11, 21).

It doesn’t matter if the enemy rises up against you, when you are committed to your assignment, God will be committed to your life. God will raise some people up as bankers for Jesus such that they will make more money by mistake than others make on purpose. Why has God made you wealthy? You’ve got to find that out.

PRAYER:
Lord, show me the purpose behind the platform I am now. I receive grace to partner with the Holy Spirit and live for divine destiny in Jesus’ name. Amen!

“…taking paths which He prepared ahead of time.…”

There are different paths that people follow in life, but the plan of God for you is that you will follow the divine path. If you allow your culture to influence you as a person for example, there will be a path people follow in your culture that might be totally conflicting with the divine path for you. The same is applicable to your environment, society and so on.

There are parents that already have an idea of the profession or career their children must pursue; and it is not as if they got that idea from God. There are individuals that will not marry from a particular tribe or ethnic group not because God told them but because of personal prejudices. But don’t forget that there is a path God has mapped out for every individual. As a father, you can’t plan for your children. You can train them, but let God show them the path that they should follow in life.

When a man misses it in his path in destiny, he can be involved in a work but that won’t be what God has ordained for him. There is a principle of the path to move from where you are to get to where God wants you to be in life. There are hidden paths that God has ordained for us.

PRAYER:
Lord, I receive grace to follow my divine path in destiny in Jesus’ name. Amen!

You need to understand clearly that you cannot define your destiny your own way. You need to see with the light of God who you really are in destiny. There are individuals in life that have passion for different things and they claim that is their destiny. You may have passion for politics but that cannot be your destiny until it is connected to what God is doing. Politics can give you a platform but the platform must be connected and used for divine purpose before you can say you are fulfilling destiny.

There are men today that are recognized anywhere they go. Some people are more popular than the president of their nation. Why? Will God have no plan for that? What did God give them that popularity for? It is a platform that God needs to give them for the fulfilment of their assignment, but most people fail at this point. They use the platform of God for what God does not plan it for.

I tell people that every position God gives comes with two things; affluence and influence. God does not mind what you do with the affluence as much as the influence is used for His purpose. Joseph was a Prime Minister in Egypt, but at the same time used that position for the purpose of God. The same thing with Esther in Babylon. She preserved a generation for God. Let God be able to use how He made you for what He made you for.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to use my God-given platform for the purpose you gave it to me. Amen!

“…taking paths which He prepared ahead of time.…”

Don’t mix up your passion and your destiny because they are two different things. Today, I will be showing you the examples of John the Baptist and Apostle Paul.

John the Baptist was ordained of God to be a forerunner of the Lord Jesus, and he understood that. John proclaimed, “Behold the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the whole world (John. 1:29),” That was the heart of his ministry, that is, to show Jesus to the world, and he did that. Once he did that, he had already fulfilled his ministry and he could die anyhow. I don’t see any reason he needed to get in the family controversy of a crazy man like Herod that led to him losing his head to a witch.

Sometimes, people say to me, “Excuse me sir, why don’t you get involved in speaking against the injustices of the government and things like that?” My ministerial assignment is enough to occupy me and I’m not going to add what God did not give me to it. But some people allow that like Paul did.

Paul had a nationalistic feeling for Israel but God didn’t send him to the Jews. Every time Paul got in trouble, it was because he wanted to preach to Jews. He never had a trouble with the Gentiles. So you’ve got to understand that. Ensure you always stay within the jurisdiction of your divine destiny.

PRAYER: Lord, my passion will not override my divine destiny in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Heb. 11:24-25 says, “By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God,…”
There is something you can become in life outside of your divine ordination; that is the alternative destiny. God wants you to be aware of that and avoid that danger.

I remember watching once when Marcus Lamb on Daystar TV was celebrating his 50th birthday. His family came around and there was a lady who was one of his in-laws that said he was such a brilliant man who could have been a doctor, but wouldn’t have made it if he had been a doctor. I understood what she was saying. You know there are some doctors that are sleeping with their patients. He could have made it as a doctor contrary to God’s plan for him. What field could you have made it in which could have taken you away from your destiny? But the man is a global phenomenon today that is blessing countless millions for Jesus.

Some people are struggling today because God is using that struggle as a divine signal to get them off the wrong road they are on. Therefore, we might need to interpret our experiences differently from each other in the light of destiny.

Do not pursue the path God has not chosen for you; it will lead to frustration and struggles. Run from the danger of alternative destiny offer.


PRAYER: Lord, I will not be caught in the web of an alternative destiny offer in Jesus’ name. Amen!

“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.”

Everyone will be responsible for what he or she turns out to be in destiny journey. There is a predestination of God and also the foreknowledge of God.

Predestination or destiny is the end that God designed if we live the way we are supposed to. That is the outcome that God has ordained, that God has planned to happen. This is where we will end up if we do it according to God’s way but it is not every time we do it according to His way. So, that God predestined something does not mean it will happen that way; you have a critical role to play. Predestination does not mean it must happen whether you like it or not. It just means that God has set the journey. Some people say it doesn’t matter how I live my life, once God has destined me for something it will happen. No! Don’t let the devil deceive you, it may not happen the way God has ordained it if you don’t cooperate with Him. Destiny journey is God and man in partnership. To live the way God wants me to live, I will have to pay the price, go all the way and push.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to cooperate with you for my destiny to happen according to how you ordained it. Amen!

“Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.”

This is a word for someone today. You might have made many mistakes but God still gives you many chances to be what you are supposed to be. God has not ordained anyone to fail; it’s the devil that leaves no chance for repentance, but God has given you a wide room. It doesn’t matter how many times you have fallen down, He said, “Get up every time.” If you will get up, you will get there.

I went to preach somewhere at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife SW Nigeria and the Lord said, “The first statement that you should make (it was in my heart) is: ‘If you are still alive, you can make amends, you can still add something to your life, you can still do something about your life.’” That statement was so odd. When I got up, I made that statement. There was a young man there that carried a powerful calling that had made a mistake and thought that was the end. That was the statement that God brought him to hear in order to redirect his life and start fighting until he makes it. It may be difficult, but it is not impossible. It doesn’t matter how far you have gone, if you are still alive, your destiny is still possible.

PRAYER:
Lord, I receive Your shaping and moulding hands upon my life. Form me into Your desired image. Amen!

This month, we are considering the crucial topic of divine separations for destiny. Many times, believers miss out on God’s behind-the-scene operations meant for their greatness. When God is preparing you for your destiny, He separates you from things that can hinder your full manifestation.

Even though mankind thrives on association, connection and community, there are divine separations that must occur for your divine destiny to happen. Many have mortgaged their future because they are unwilling to embrace a God-mandated separation. As you mature in life and progress on the journey of destiny, you will discover that some divine separations are prerequisites for your life to progress in alignment with God’s programme for your life.

A time shall come when friends must separate from one another regardless of how much love they share. Otherwise, one of them will sacrifice his/her destination to continue in the friendship. Divine separation delivers you from journeys and companies that are leading you away from God’s best. Separation may be temporary or permanent, depending on God’s design for your life. This month, we will see areas that God calls for separations so that your God-given purpose can be fulfilled. As you read on, I trust God to show you which one of these separations He is calling you to embark on in this season of your life.

PRAYER:
Lord, I ask for a clear insight into what separations I need for my purpose to happen and finish strong in Jesus’ name. Amen!

In God’s programme for your life, there is a set time for your manifestation. When your set time in the programme of God has not yet come, it is wisdom to attach yourself to someone whose time it is in order to have a perpetual blessing in your life. Though issues may arise between both of you and the devil will do all that he can to disconnect you, don’t allow it.

In our text, Lot joined himself to Abraham and God began to bless him because of that joining. Then, the devil began to play Lot’s hand in verse 6, causing strife between their workmen and Abraham decided to do something about it. In the context of the truth we are considering, Abraham was separating but not disconnecting; you need to recognize the difference. There is a time to separate but when the time is not ripe, it becomes a disconnection that brings avoidable suffering.

Beware of pride that makes you disconnect from the people God has put in your life to guide you and supply strength in your journey. The prodigal son disconnected from his father when he was not ready. If only he had waited for the right time, his father could have released him and that would have been a separation and not a disconnection. When it’s not time for you to go, wait. Sometimes, waiting takes more faith than acting, but many people do not wait enough for God to release them into divine separation for destiny and they end up disconnecting themselves.

PRAYER: Lord, I receive grace to wait. I refuse every plot of the devil to separate me from my divine joining in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Sometimes, people step out before their time and they enter into a disconnection from the people that are crucial to their destiny. This consequently leads to a disconnection from the graces, resources, privileges, connections, anointing, divine flows and everything the people ought to bring into their lives. God does not want you to make that kind of mistake with anyone, be it your parents, spouse, a friend, a boss or your pastor. Nobody can use you if you are serving a vision; rather, you are becoming the person that your future needs you to be.

When Lot disconnected from Abraham, he began a downward journey in life until he became an elder in a God-forsaken land. It was by the mercy God showed Abraham that he escaped the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. Despite escaping Sodom and Gomorrah, he lost his wife, and returned with two daughters who were perverted. They slept with him and raised bastard nations (Genesis 19:36-38). He could have avoided all that by not disconnecting from Abraham.

You are God’s first choice for the destiny He has for you, but you need to know that an atmosphere of strife will poison your destiny. Have you noticed that when the hand of God becomes evident in your life, suddenly someone starts generating a quarrel with you? Don’t fall for such traps, it is the devil’s ploy to disqualify you from that move of God. Avoid strife because it can lead to satanic disconnections.

PRAYER:
Lord, I receive grace to ignore strife. Help me to see the devil’s plot to disconnect me from my blessers in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Today, we will consider two kinds of divine separation namely, forced separation and chosen separation. God usually orchestrates forced separation while chosen separation may be initiated by a discerning believer. You need to embrace these two separations for a complete experience with God. Forced separation often arises because many believers are insensitive to the move of God for a separation; they end up being forced apart from each other for God’s higher purpose.

The early church was situated at Jerusalem, breaking bread from house to house, they were enjoying favour. If they continued like that, they would have become assimilated into the culture of the day. God saw the danger in their settling down in Jerusalem and He told them to go into all the world, beginning at Jerusalem, Samaria and to the uttermost parts of the earth; but they were settled at Jerusalem. They were at ease and had no impetus to move nor were their hearts attuned to any instruction to move. God arranged a forced separation from Jerusalem through persecution and they were scattered abroad and went everywhere preaching the gospel (Acts 8:4).

In Joseph’s case, a forced separation was required to take him to the place his destiny and dream will be fulfilled. No one will get to his divine destination without separating from some people and things; if you do not hear God, He may need to force you.


PRAYER: Lord, I embrace the divine separation crucial for my destiny. I refuse to be complacent or deaf. Holy Spirit please lead me on in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Today, we continue with the types of divine separation. Forced separation arises due to two reasons. First, if you don’t want to move when you have the power to move. Second, if you don’t have the power to move, then God will move you. Joseph’s separation from his brothers was forced and God-ordained. God started him on that journey of separation.

God engineers some separations while some need to be initiated by men. When God wants you to make a change, He will wait for you to make some decisions intelligently. In relating with my friends, I have noticed there will be seasons when we see each other almost every week and then another season when we rarely see. Most people don’t understand the changing seasons of their lives and they end up getting confused.

In Genesis 13:8-9, we see a divine separation that Abraham had to initiate in order to maintain the operations of God in His life. Abraham had enough wisdom and understanding to know that strife will create an atmosphere for the devil to stop what God wanted to do with him. James 3:16 says, “For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.”

If you have a member of staff that brings strife into your company, educate such a person. Don’t tolerate strife because it creates an atmosphere for the devil to work. In marriage, if you and your spouse quarrel over anything or over a person, take note of such a thing or person and find a way to come to agreement. You must want what God wants for your family together.

PRAYER: Lord, I refuse strife in my heart, my family and my business. Show me the separations that are long overdue in my life’s journey in Jesus’ name. Amen!

The devil works demonic separation into people’s lives chiefly by stirring up offences between people. Satanic separation disconnects people from the anointing that God has connected them to for destiny fulfilment. Some couples have become separated, though they still live under the same roof; no longer speaking to each other due to offences. If your family is like this, don’t wait until something dangerous and damaging happens to a member of your family before you apologise to each other.

An important distinction is that divine separation leads you towards your divine destiny while satanic separation will make you weaker and vulnerable to the devil’s attack. The strife between the herdsmen of Lot and Abraham shouldn’t have led to a satanic separation of Lot from Abraham because he was being separated from the blesser God put in his life. When Lot went on his own, he lost wife and children and all kinds of problems entered his life. Judas was separated from Jesus by greed. Lucifer was separated from God by blind ambition and his end is the Lake of fire.

Always recognize and find out who, where, and what God has joined you to. If at all there will be a separation, God will tell you when and how to go about it. Satanic separation will always rise from negative emotions of offences, greed and undue ambition. Don’t let Satan separate you from the people God sends to build you up and facilitate your divine destiny. God may bring friends together for a great future, but the devil will do all he can to separate them and hinder the destiny of that friendship.

PRAYER:
Lord, give me a discerning heart to see those that You have brought into my life for my lifting. Devil, take your hands off my destiny linkages in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Separating for the mere sake of separation is error. Separation must be based on a vision. Most times, God will give you the ultimate picture of where you are going so that vision can be the ultimate end you aim for. God is a maker; He is always working and making us something.

Regardless of your vocation, God wants everyone of us to be conformed to the image of Christ. He chooses different experiences to hammer us into the same shape. Where you are out of shape may not be the place I’m out of shape. Therefore, through different experiences at different times of our lives He shapes us to look like Jesus.

I was talking to a young lady and I said, “God’s ultimate victory for a young lady is to be carved like a pillar for a palace.” (Psalm 144:12) Though she may be a doctor, an engineer, a banker or a business woman, God has something He wants to carve her for - the palace of a king. That is, your husband is supposed to be a king in his house. It is the woman that places the crown on the head of her husband, so whenever you see a man that is lagging in life, look at his wife whether she is contributing anything or not.

Such a lady needs to separate herself from anything or anyone that would reduce her chances of realizing this vision. Romans 8:28 (Amplified) calls you to cooperate with God to achieve His purpose in your life: “We are assured and know that [God being a partner in their labour] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.”

PRAYER: Lord, I embrace Your vision for my life. I yield to Your making process, mould me into what You want me to be in Jesus’ name. Amen!

I want you to think of this example of two friends which I usually cite. If one of them is going to Port Harcourt, in Southern Nigeria, and the other to Sokoto in Northern, Nigeria; when they get to the bus station, there must be a time that they will bid each other goodbye if either of them will get to his destination. If they do not separate from each other at the station, they’ll never arrive at their destination.

Gen. 22:1-3

“Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” So, Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.”

I want you to take note of the fact that Abraham took two of his young men with him. Let it always be the person in higher authority in a relationship that is the one releasing you, and not you leaving the relationship on your own. Many times, the devil will mount pressure on the junior partner in a relationship to get him to disconnect because he has seen the greatness of the person’s destiny and wishes to sever him from arriving at that greatness.

PRAYER: Lord, show me the things in my life I need to separate from to arrive at the destination you have in mind for me.

If you will arrive at your destination, you must separate from people that are not worth getting close to. It is not everybody that is going to the same place with you. For you to get to the next level that God has for you, you will pay a price, and you must not bring people who have not paid the same price as you up to the same platform. For every journey, there is a price to be paid.

If you want to minister the word of God with the kind of anointing you have seen on a great pastor, then you will need to ask that pastor what made him who he is and which road he has walked. The problem is that we follow pastors that tell us the blessings they have received without showing us the road that they walked. This is one of the reasons many people in ministry today have the wrong motivations. You must walk a road. You must qualify yourself to move on. If you encounter somebody who is not qualifying himself, and you keep such person around you, you are looking for trouble.

If you run a company and you are qualifying yourself to take that company to the next level, promoting any member of staff that is not qualifying himself to go to the next level would be promoting them into rebellion against you. You would be promoting them to destroy your company. Not everybody is fit and qualified to go up with you to the next place.

PRAYER: Lord, show me the people in my life that I need to separate from in order to arrive at my next level in life in Jesus’ name. Amen!

TOPIC:
SEPARATION FROM PEOPLE FOR YOUR ASSIGNMENT
HEBREWS 5:1

The bible tells us in Hebrews 5 that there comes a time we must separate from people around us in order to focus on the destiny ahead of us.

“For every high priest taken from among men is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins.”

God is monitoring everyone’s progress. Many people today are too common and too natural, and so God cannot give them assignments. God will separate you to do your assignment. Some assignments are so special that you can’t discuss them with anybody. After Jesus had prayed all night, the Bible says out of the people following Him, He called twelve whom he named apostles that they might be with him that he might send them forth to preach and to cast out devils.

Every human being on earth has an assignment from heaven to fulfil, but if there is no separation in your life, God cannot give you assignments. God did not say you will rule in the midst of your friends, He said you will rule in the midst of your enemies because sometimes, your friends will not allow you to rule. There is often an insertion of emotions or competition from some friends that impede your assignment. There must be separation in your life for God to give you assignments.

PRAYER:

There are sometimes in your life and journey that God requires you to move faster than you are currently moving. To do so, you must separate from everything that slows you down. It is at such a time that you will understand the dangers of wrong people. Wrong people will slow you down, hold you down and tie you up.

You must separate from wrong people who want to slow you down. Imagine if you had an appointment with the governor at 9am on a Monday and after getting dressed, a neighbour just shows up at 8:30am to pick a fight with you. At this point, you would most likely yield to his demands or ignore him completely because you have an important appointment. Such a neighbour in that situation is an example of a man going nowhere, attempting to stop you from getting anywhere.

People that are going nowhere always see issues that are irrelevant and you must always keep your head on your shoulders not to allow them derail or distract you. They can get you in serious trouble and permanently stop your journey. Therefore, you must separate from them for speed.

PRAYER:

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.”

The *“weight”* being referred to in the scripture above includes any wrong person in your life that weighs you down. *You get weighed down every time you talk with a negative person; someone who has a bad story every time.* The *“sin that so easily beset”* is a sin that always catches you. *There are people that the devil wraps sin around to slow you down, and you must avoid them.*

*“Let us run with patience the race that is set before us”.* Your journey in life is not a game; it is a race. It is a race because time is attached to it. When time is attached to something, it’s a race. *You don’t have all the time in the world to run the race of your destiny.* There are certain things you have to accomplish before the age of 50, otherwise, you won’t have the physical energy to accomplish the projects of your destiny.

*Don’t find yourself in a position where you have run out of the energy required for your assignment due to moving too slow earlier on in your journey. Take your race seriously now.*

The bible talks about being too old to do your assignment as effectively and as quickly as you should. In Joshua 13:1, the bible says;

“Now Joshua was old and stricken in years; and the Lord said unto him, Thou art old and stricken in years, and there remaineth yet very much land to be possessed.”

Here, God told Joshua he was old and stricken in years to accomplish the assignments He had mapped out for him, and when the Ancient of days tells you you’re old, you can’t get a truer medical report than that. You’re old! Once you get old, you lose your agility and can no longer behave like a young person again. You cannot afford to waste time.

There are some people that their assignment from the devil in your life is to slow you down and let every negative issue in life catch up with you. The devil is aware that most Christians eventually wise up to their destiny and make the effort to fulfil it. With this knowledge, he often deploys the strategy of wasting your youth and time with people and activity that weigh you down in your race. You must keep separating from such people and activity in order to keep moving on at the pace of God. You must separate from people who just want to keep you on one spot.

There are two kinds of Elevation: Physical Elevation and Spiritual Elevation. If you will be elevated in life, you must be separated. There is nobody that is elevated without separation. In every promotional exam, not everybody in the same class will be promoted. When companies want to elevate a set of staff members, they separate them from the general working atmosphere and take them somewhere for a training seminar. Promotional interviews are individual; when your name is called, you either go in and come back promoted or go in and come back still at the same level. I pray that you will go in life and come back promoted in Jesus’ name. Amen.

There is a level in elevation that is lonely; the price to be paid is loneliness. Every great leader knows that there is loneliness chosen for you to function in leadership. There is the thinking of a leader that cannot be done in the midst of a group. Great leaders think deeply, make strong decisions, and then bring their decisions for discussion. Men who are great in life have been known to separate to meditate and think deeply on issues and life.

A politician said he had done enough thinking for the followers after him to last a generation. Such kind of thinking does not come from jesting around. When people don’t think deeply, their words don’t carry weight. If you have done hours of deep, serious, and disciplined thinking on an issue, by the time you open your mouth to speak, even your colleagues will bow.

PRAYER:
Lord, I receive divine promotion on my journey in life. I bring my mind under the influence of the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ name. Amen!

When Elisha was separated to follow Elijah, the sons of the prophet went to stay somewhere and watched Elisha but by the time Elisha got back and said, “Where is the God of Elijah?” and took the mantle of Elijah that fell and parted the river hither and thither, they said, “The spirit of Elijah is resting upon Elisha”. He didn’t preach to them before they bowed. The spirit did not just fall on Elisha – he qualified himself for it by following Elijah alone.

Among all the disciples of Jesus, John the beloved had the greatest revelation (he wrote the book of Revelations) because he was always walking in that separation. He leaned on the chest of Jesus and he was the one that Jesus told the name of the one who would betray him, even Peter did not know.

If you want to be elevated, then you must be separated. Too many people like the crowd; they have a ‘crowd mentality’. Sometimes God calls you to be separate from the crowd. He says: “Come apart, I want to talk to you.” People don’t allow God to separate them, so they remain small and they blame the devil. When Elisha was going to receive the anointing, he separated himself from the sons of the prophets and began to follow Elijah. He was the one pouring water on the hands of the man of God. They mocked him and laughed at him, but he was in the separation for the anointing. If you want the anointing, then you must be separated. Before John saw the book of Revelations, he was separated from people.

PRAYER:
Lord, I receive the grace to separate and rise above the crowd mentality. I receive divine enablement to pay the price needed for elevation in Jesus’ name. Amen!

When God wants to bless you specially, He separates you. There are general blessings and there are specific blessings. The Bible says He causes His rain to fall on the just and the unjust (Matt. 5:25). That is general blessing, but His deliverance doesn’t happen to the just and the unjust. The Bible says the righteous will escape but the wicked will be taken (Prov. 11:.

God always separates. He separated between the Jews and the Egyptians in Egypt. The Jews were in Goshen and there was no problem in Goshen, there was light there; but in Egypt, there was darkness. God said He did all that so that the world will know He has put a distinction between the Egyptians and Israel (Exo. 1:7b). You can’t serve God seriously and He will not separate you when He is giving out His blessing. God does not bless with His eyes closed.

Every time God wants to increase and bless you, He separates you. Joseph was separated from the rest of his brethren and look at the blessings that came upon him. The Bible says all these blessings shall come on the head of him who was separated from his brethren (Gen. 49:26). Blessing is something you provoke and it is an individual thing. Five people can be in a place and one of them does something that provokes the blessing of God and then God puts that blessing on him. Respond to the separation of God that leads to blessing.

PRAYER:
Lord, I receive divine sensitivity to what and who I need to be separated from for me to enter the blessings of God in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Gen. 13:5-7 “Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks and herds and tents. Now the land was not able to support them, that they might dwell together, for their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together. And there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock. The Canaanites and the Perizzites then dwelt in the land”

You need the atmosphere of peace to succeed in life. Abraham separated from strife that was connected to Lot in Genesis chapter 13. Sometimes, there are people whose presence in your life generates tension. Remember the story of Jonah? Those sailors knew the sea. They had never had that kind of storm before but they carried a ‘storm-causer- Jonah, in their boat.

Don’t bring into your life somebody who generates tension because God speaks to us in an atmosphere of peace. An atmosphere of strife is an atmosphere where the devil does his worst work, and every form of strife can be traced to a human being and to gossip. Whatever it is, separate and disconnect from it. Don’t find yourself in circles of gossips because they always walk with strange spirits and demons. Don’t find yourself sitting and discussing people.

Every time there is strife, you can always trace it to a person. That person who is the source of the strife has opened up to a wrong spirit that is on a mission of division and separation that is wrong. Every time there is strife between you and somebody, it is time to decide. You must separate from any one that is bringing strife into your life on your way to the place where you are going.

PRAYER: Lord, separate me from personalities that bring strife and chaos into my life. I receive all round peace in Jesus’ name. Amen!

This is an agricultural principle. Every farmer that rears animals knows that when an animal is infected with a disease, you mark, separate and quarantine it so that it doesn’t spread the disease. If you go to a hospital, there are some wards that not everyone can enter. The doctors that are entering there will protect themselves, because the diseases that the people in that ward have are contagious.

Have you observed that no good thing is contagious but evil things are always contagious? Health is not contagious, but diseases are. Holiness is not contagious, but iniquity is contagious. There is a time that you need to separate from anyone that can contaminate you with sin. Some of you have been born again and you know what you were delivered from before you got saved. Now after you got saved, and are making some good progress, the person that will contaminate you with evil shows up again, disconnect from the person! Separate yourself to remain pure and preserve yourself.

The Bible says evil communication corrupts good manners (I Cor. 15:33). There are some corrupting influences that are associated with certain people and places. Separate yourself so that you can accomplish what you want to do. Understand your habits and behaviours. If you notice that there are certain things and issues that cause you to spend money unnecessarily; for example, if you spend money when you are depressed or you overfeed yourself and gain a lot of weight when you are depressed, then you must begin to separate from those things that cause you to do dangerous things to yourself. You must separate for purity.

PRAYER:
Lord, I declare a divine separation from what contaminates (men, habits, places, traits) in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Avoid being around people that are toxic. There are toxic human beings that the only assignment they have in life is to poison your spirit, your finances, and your life. They have nothing to do with their lives except to sit and just waste time, so if you will move on and remain pure and preserved, then you must practice separation. God separates us from such things and says, “Come ye apart.”


Some people spend money anyhow and they don’t know that the reason for their poverty is not that God does not bless them, but their spending habit. They have not cultivated the habit of saving money. When a man does not have enough discipline to save money, his indiscipline will wreck his marriage. If you have noticed that there are some people and places that cause you to spend money and you have a major project that needs money, separate from those places and don’t engage in fellowship with those people.


As you begin to walk with God, He separates you from strange desires, strange things, and strange people. Some people spend too much time in front of the television set. Some people read the wrong books; they read only romantic books and fictional books, so their mind and imaginations are filled with fictional things without substance of truth and life. An average person prefers entertainment to meditation. Meditation creates an atmosphere of creativity and God wants us to be creative people and co-creators with Him; this comes as you begin to separate yourself from things that will keep you from meditating.


PRAYER:
Lord, I take authority over strange desires and habits; I open up to the force of divine creativity in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Yesterday, we looked at two key points on what can separate you - God and the purpose of God for your life.

3. The truth separates.

If God says, “Thou shall not commit adultery”, and you say, “I shall commit adultery”, you are separated automatically. When there was a temporary separation between my elder sister and I because of the call of God, it was painful, but I stayed with the call of God and now, we talk almost every day. I got everybody back, all saved. How do you want to get your family back - saved or unsaved? How do you want to get your spouse, saved or unsaved? Tell them the truth about Christ. Don’t say, “I am afraid my husband can drive me out.”

I remember a woman that was under my pastoral calling, I told her: “Your husband is a sinner, tell him the truth, or he will marry other women and drive you out.” She said, “I don’t want to offend him.” That man still dealt badly with her: he took the business from her, married another woman and sent her packing. She got nothing because she was unwilling to face him with the truth and he was seeking the truth at that time.

What Should Not Separate You?

1. Satan should not separate you.

2. Men should not separate you (even though they will try).

3. Quarrels should not separate you. Each time there is a quarrel, find out the reason behind that quarrel and deal with it.

PRAYER:
Lord, I pray for the strength to stand and resist anything that wants to separate me from the divine in Jesus’ name. Amen!
