After two and half hours of rain yesterday sunday 9th of September 2018, the bridge before tipa garage on the akala express dual carriageway (new garage - Elebu road) in ibadan was filled to the brim and many surrounding house which are close or most likely to be on the river banks were submerged.
I call on the commissioner for works for the state to look into an immediate future plan of periodic opening up of the waterways and expansion of this bridge, if yesterday rain fell for six hours, residents and commuters will be trapped and the fear of the bridge being washed away because of the constant water pressure, the abutment wing wall and embankment being expose i think pose a treat. We do not need to wait until the damage is done before action is taken.
Also along the same axis just before richbam filling station after ire akari estate, water is eating up the drainage gradually and the gradual collapse of the road is noticeable.
As a citizen have done my part by paying my tax and calling your attention to it , please do your part hon commissioner by taking necessary steps. Finally nairaland do your part by pushing this to the front page, so that someone who can get the message to the appropriate quarters can see this. God bless nigeria

This is so sad. But the problem of this country is that we always expect the government to do everything for us. No more humanitarian services among the citizens. In Japan for instance, the citizens can go extra miles to influence positive changes in their country. Their government only have few more things left to do. Let Nigerians learn from the Japanese people and stop being too dependent on their leaders. It's the same hands we have that our leaders have too. Let's change our attitude please.

I get your point on the humanitarian services, the question now is how many nigerians live above the average level who can team up to afford this kind of project, getting their wealth legitmately. Very vey few, which their input will be insignificant. Nigerians clamour on the government always because social infrastructure is part of their primary aim and nigerians are been taxed and levied everyday meanwhile the development is not relatively proportional. For instance, on average in the south western state which am sure of,taxi drivers gets daily ticket on the minimum of #1,200 ,bike #300, tricycle #1,000, this money run in millions.paying them back with poor infrastructure. You see their union excos living extravagant life, you wonder if they remit to the government purse. I personally took time to make enquiries from drivers, bikers, road transport unions, only to discover that the union pay huge returns to the government but not sincerely. Its all shady and sharing between the union and some government personnel, thats why you see some government of the day having interest in who heads the union. Of all this drama,we the masses are at the recieving end.
