Bianca Ojukwu recently threw her hat in the race for Anamabara South Senatorial Election. She announced to her constituents that she is running to represent them appropriately. Playing the populist card, she announced herself the messiah who is come to relieve the igbo race of the perennial sufferings in the geo-political construct that Nigeria has become.

By and large she trumpeted the regal graces of her legendary husband the late Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu and her highly revered late father the late C.C.Onoh.

Bianca holds an exalted standing among modern and contemporary Igbos largely on her role as the wife of the late legendary Igbo leader. It is quiet precarious that she would want to give up this place of high grace for the murky waters of politics. And it is on this evidence that we dare to take her under the microscope and evaluate her merits for what it is and thus the question, What has Bianca ever done for Humanity?
Every budding politician knows too well that Politics is big business and having certain surreal rules of engagements similar akin to that of the famed Italian Mafia system. In short if you want to be anything politically, you must be affiliated with a political family. Political families are established actors in designated spheres of influence with complete control over the super structures of that sphere which include churches, thriving markets, local and central governments, security apparatus, agricultural plantations, hospitals.

Apart from the aforementioned Polictical familes are known for their philanthropy which interestingly ranges from flamboyant to eye-popping. Popular examples include the establishment of various vocational educational centers, granting of free scholarships, helping the extreme poor and hungry, building of churches, mosques and civic buildings.

Apart from being famous in her own right as a former beauty queen, contemporary young people will struggle to link her with any of the popular causes that promote solutions for social problems and issues.

Political watchers will be perplexed to find what political price she has paid previously when juxtaposed with her famous competitor Ifeanyi Uba the Capital Oil Boss
The capital Oil Boss Ifeanyi Ubah has paid his dues, he has taken his loss in good faith understanding that the sun will shine again, when he couldn’t become governor, he placed faith with the incumbent even at the risk of making him stronger when he could have easily had supported a cap-in hand Peter Obi. Ifeanyi Ubah is a known philanthropist, one who has done so much for humanity. Not many people may even know that gigantic building complexes in many universities have been bankrolled by him from start to finish.

Atiku will more or less decamp to APGA if he fails to win the PDP Presidential ticket. While it may be interesting, it all supports the theory that you need structures and structures pay the price. Could it be that PDP political families fear their political chances if they make Atiku even stronger by making him president? Atiku himself is aware that he only needs the Igbos and a few compromises in the South west to unseat the incumbent President.

Political Family leaders like Rashidi Ladoja in Oyo state and Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo state also understands the local nature of politics. Having seen the wisdom in having a secures sphere of influence in the local area, from which meaning full associations can be made with a central political family, they have since reverted to state prominent political parties from which they exert their political hegemony.

More importantly we need an Atiku candidature on the ballot as he is more or less the only one who can give other contestants a run for their money by bringing to bear his evaluated experience gathered over the years.

Bianca and others in her category especially the Not-too-young –to-run groups should fall in line, join a political family, pay the price as appropriate and count on been fielded one day. Quiet interestingly, the ojukwu family has recently questioned the legality of her marriage to their father citing the fact of a pre-existing and binding court marriage to his first wife which has not been quashed, thereby suggesting she is no more than their fathers Baby Mama.

Let the fireworks begin. Let’s see how much Bianca will take. Just how thick is her skin?
