As states across the country are joining the Federal government’s local rice sufficiency agenda, it appears that farmers in Kobape and Kajola communities in Ogun state lack access to Extension Workers, our research reveals. Out of 211 rice farmers in our research, 59.24% informed that they do not have extension workers who should expose them to new technologies and improved rice varieties. Our analysts observe that the farmers are likely to be less informed on the best global practices in the commodity production, which will have negative consequences on the productivity and income of the farmers.
