The victim obviously died in their custody, but the mugu kidnappers were refusing to give it up and were still bent on collecting ransom. This is a very straightforward case to handle and give judgement on... Make them escort the victim to the world beyond as bodyguards, no time to waste money feeding or judging their case. Idiots.
